Why would he want to insert a bunch of injured players into the lineup?

Kovy was no where to be found that night either. It was basically Pleks and Akost. The goals came from two nice quick feeds from Pleks and a softy by, gasp, Fleury. Shocking. Those two quick feeds were the night for that line. They had no sustained pressure and the two chances they created luckily ended up in the back of the net.

Its not Andrei himself necessarily playing differently with Kovalev but more the fact generally Pleks and Kovy don't involve Andrei when united.

it still bothers me that akost doesnt get a lot of time on the pp and when he does he stays in front of the net???....shouldnt he be on 1 of the face-offs circles so he could use his awesome shot'

just my 2 cents

I find A.Kost and Kovalev remind me of the Spezza-Alfie-Heatley combo. Not in points persay but in play. They either work great, and produce incredible points, or they don't work at all.

You missed someones joke on the main NHL board where Montreal trades for Mikko and calls OLats up so we get:

A.Kostitsyn - S. Koivu - S. Kostitsyn
G. Latendresse - M. Koivu - O. Latendresse

Maybe while we're at it we can sign Danny Markov...

AKost and Kovalev are just two highly talented players who can't play together. One guy has always had issues with being involved in the play and not being sure where to position himself, the other has issues with involving his teammates in the play and not passing the puck unless it's his last option. Bad combo.

Even last year when the line scored 90 goals, how many were Kostitsyn to Kovalev: Goal, or Kovalev to Kostitsyn: Goal?

Theres just no chemistry, and there are few players on this team who you can say have chemistry with Kovalev.

The way I look at it, is like this. Kovalev and Andrei are both right wingers so they shouldn't be on the same line. They are very similar players. The both have great shots, they both prefer to play the right side, so why should be continue to force Andrei to play the left side when he would be more effective and happier playing his correct wing?

Put Dags or Sergei on the left wing with Kovy and Pleks and put Andrei on the right wing with Lang and Lats or someone else. We can't have 3 of our best shooters on the same line....we need to spread out the scoring a little better and let players play their natural positions.

Okay... but a line needs three players...

D. Sedin - E. Staal - P. Kane
J. Staal - H. Sedin - E. Kane
G. Latendresse - S. Koivu - A. Kostitsyn
S. Kostitsyn - M. Koivu - O. Latendresse

A. Markov - T. Kaberle
F. Kaberle - D. Markov

What a team.

Let's wait until the next game before going on to suppose that Andrei Kostitsyn's and Tomas Plekanec's problems are because of Kovalev. They both played flat when they were on the Kovalev line and I don't think its because of Kovalev but rather because they were too damn lazy to make chances.

Andrei is one of those "sit and wait for my chances" type of players while Plekanec will work hard, not get the results he wants, then just become frustrated. Kovalev works harder and harder, and the more he works, the more dumbheaded moves he makes, because his game is best simplified.

When Kovy broke his goal drought his game went back to normal and he was a marvel on the ice. Now that he is back in a drought and things are not working, he is doing far too much.

A huge load will be off his shoulders once Higgins and Koivu return. I would honestly put Koivu and Kovalev together for *one* game just to get Kovalev on the right course again.

Only because Sergei is struggling in his sophomore year. Once he gets out of this funk they're going to create magic together just as they did last season.

Also, i think after 62 games, Carbo will say that Weber is the answer to our PP..
Actually he still needs about 20 or so games before he realizes there is a problem with the PP.

If we can put M. Staal on D instead and put N. Backstrom at center, then have N. Backstrom in net, we will be even better.

Can we give Jean-Charles Lajoie a shot at managing and coaching the Atlanta Trashers on a 5 years plan? please!

Put Patrick Roy and Derek Roy in net and we're set! Patrick will be so good that it wont hurt as bad to see Derek getting shelled because he's not a goalie.

Strictly on relation, we could always add the fedorov's, the 4 staals, the sutters.
