I've said it before, but it'd be nice to not have a promising season derailed by injuries...just once.

its never just 1 or 2 players. Its like the 2 top lines, a key defensive pair and the starting goalie. Every year, at this time. It puts them in a slump and they have to fight like hell to make the playoffs, and after a little bit they get burnt out and die by the time the ECFs roll around. it happened in 04, and again last year. I really agree Dig, I would love to see a promising season not get derailed by a ******** of injuries.

Lets just hop we get the injury bug out of the way early and go into the playoffs healthy.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we get it out of the way early, too. I'm just glad it's before the all-star break. Hopefully, a majority will be able to use the break to rest up, and are able to jump back in afterward, and of course stay healthy.

We're far from derailed. None of these injuries--outside of Briere--are truly significant yet. A few games here and there for each guy...sure, all of them piling up at once isn't fun, but, as you say, it seems to happen every year; it's the way it seems to go.

As long as they avoid any catastrophic injuries, and get healthy sooner rather than later...not a big deal.

"Simon [Gagne] is actually doing better. We'll still say he's day-to-day, but we're kind of hoping he'll play tomorrow.

"Arron Asham is getting better. The MRI he had done showed fairly normal issues, and we'll see how he is tomorrow. He's day-to-day, and we're hoping that he plays tomorrow or the next game.

"Darroll [Powe], right now, we're dealing with a little bit of a hip issue with him. We're not sure it's severe, so we're going to say day-to-day on him. He's probably [not a possibility] tomorrow.

"Claude [Giroux] has a mild concussion, and is day-to-day. He's still feeling a little iffy.

"We're kind of hoping [Josh] Gratton can play tomorrow. He's got kind of a stomach issue too, but we're hoping he can play tomorrow.

"Jon [Kalinski] is actually in the hospital. He had to have surgery on his thigh yesterday because of a contusion on his thigh that we couldn't get the swelling down. They had to go in and get the blood out of there. So, he's lying in a hospital with an open wound, letting it drain. We just have to see how it goes, but it's going to be significant time. Probably a couple weeks.

"[Antero] Niittymaki actually feels a little bit better today, but we're still probably looking at a week to 10 days before he's able to play."

Danny Briere also spoke to the media on Monday, and said that he may be a week or two away from returning to game action. Briere has missed the last 14 games with a groin strain.

Forward Andreas Nodl and goaltender Scott Munroe were recalled from the Phantoms.

It's really a problem when Holmgren can't remember all the people on the list of injured and has to be asked for each respectively. FlyersTV link.

Is this a joke?

Who is going to play against Caps? My god. May as well drop that game and rest all of the guys who are day to day.

Let's see:
Upshall - Carter - Hartnell (playing with a broken toe)
Gagné (questionable) - Richards - Knuble
Nödl - Metropolit - Sbisa
Cote - Kukkonen - Gratton (questionable)

Timonen (playing hurt) - Väänänen
Coburn - Carle
Alberts - Jones

Biron (Munroe)

Basically we are lucky if we can scrape 18 healthy skaters together, including playing two defensemen as forwards and two guys playing through injuries.
IMHO, They should have called up Matsumoto too :/

I called the Nitty injury during the game. He was doing insane stretching in net before and during the shootout. One female fan even mentioned how it looked like he was showing off his sexual flexibility, but I told her straight off, "That's probably the last thing on his mind right now. His groin probably hurts like a mofo." It really looked bad.

Hell, if we can steal 1 point out of this next game again Washington it'll still be a fairly successful road trip, considering.

I agree, I've always wanted to see Matsy in a Flyers sweater. I don't think I personally have yet.

Salary cap says "Hi"...calling up guys to play a game or two when the other guys aren't going on LTIR just keeps eating away at our already limited salary resources.

Im surprised Sbisa, Carle or Vannanen arent hurt either. Carle and Vannanen both got destroyed against LA and Sbisa and Simmonds kept trying to run each other over.

I was sitting directly across from where Brown hit Vannanen and after Vannanen regrouped he looked pretty messy. I was worried about Richards too, he was favoring his right hand, look like it had tape on it.

That sounds bad. Heard this before...

What a disgrace.

That's hideous.

This is what ended Cam Neely's career, I think, but of course now they know it can end careers so they treat it.

At least a couple weeks, I should think.

8 forwards lost to injury at one time. Good God.

Thank God the Flyers have depth, but this is getting ridiculous. Change that... this is beyond ridiculous.
