They called him for high-sticking. They could not have botched that call any worse.
You couldn't have said it any better, the ONLY reason they called it a double minor is because they thought it was a high stick and giroux was bleeding. Which is an automatic double minor. It's still the wrong call.
i don't care what happened in the game, we all pretty much agree by now that refs are obviously blind. I'm wondering what happens NOW, after the game. If he gets off scott free, nhl = bush league.
The Ducks can find solace in the fact they didn't lose the game in regulation, since they handed the Flyers plenty of opportunities in the third period with a rash of penalties. That included a four-minute high sticking call on Corey Perry, which in actuality was an elbow to the head of Claude Giroux. And that hit is coming with more repercussions. The NHL will be announcing later today that Perry is being suspended four games for it. (We'll have more on that later today.)
An elbow to the face of Flyers’ rookie Claude Giroux will cost Anaheim’s Corey Perry a four-game suspension.
Perry received a double-minor for high-sticking in the third period of Friday’s 5-4 Flyers shootout win over the Ducks when he jabbed the butt end of his stick into Giroux’s face, just under his eye shield.
The penalty should have warranted a game-misconduct given that had Perry’s stick been a little higher, it could taken out Giroux’s left eye. Giroux was sporting a bruise and cut under the eye during the game as a result of the infraction.
I hope the league is looking at the attendance on this flyers road trip. Sellouts and record crowds. Maybe they'll see that throwing one of the largest fan base teams under the bus every chance they get isn't such a great idea. Just look at the revenue the phillies WS gear is bringing in. But instead they try to ram crosby down everyone's throat, and the pens are really a small market team. Instead the should be pushing rivalries, come see the big bad bruins or the broad street bullies.

Is it the Flyers those fans want to see or do they sell out like that for every Eastern Conference team that goes out west? i.e. Rangers, Caps, Pens, etc.

there was a large contingent of flyers jerseys on the trip. In LA you could hear "lets go flyers" chants on the TV.
Im thankful they did SOMETHING, its better than what they have been calling, nothing, with no suspensions. I agree it should be a stiffer penalty, but I see the silver lining in the suspension.
Its funny all through out the GDT Charlie_Girl was talking about how much Perry sucks, and I asked why, and I was told that he was a diver, a cheap shot artist etc. I kinda feel like I set that whole thing up lol.
Whats wrong with the flyers. Nobody went after perry after that hit?
Why do people ask this stupid question all the time
NOT going after him is the correct thing to do. A penalty was called and starting a fight might offset such a penalty. And even more importantly, if Giroux actually needed medical assistance, a fight would only obstruct the medical staff on the ice.
