Would you play the old-timers if you had the chance?

So I just got a phone call. The guy that owned the Mission in the LNAH got the Habs' old-timers to come to town this month.

He wants me to play for the local all-stars.

Now of course, that would be great.

But I'm scared I'll be the least in shape amongst all the players present on both side, all the while being probably the 3rd or 4th youngest.

I'm afraid I'll look bad. Very bad.

Would you guys do it anyway?

Who cares how bad you look? It's just for fun anyways.

How many people get to say they played with the Habs old timers? That's too awesome, once in a lifetime thing.

Even if you were in shape, you would look bad anyway. So go, take your shifts, play your game and enjoy the ride. You're not there to prove anything.

My uncle played against the old-timers a few years ago in Lac-Saint-Jean, and he told me how good Lafleur was and how he was simply in another league even at his age.

I could be a 400 pound dude playing center and there is no way I'd pass up the chance even if my shifts consisted of me hopping over the boards and than having to use the gate back into the bench right after for being winded.

Hey, I'm sure you'll be in better shape then the old timer.

Just don't check them too hard if they try to pass you!

Worried about looking bad? Don't. Nobody's going there to watch you and those that see and recognize you will probably be awfully envious. No matter how badly you stink up the place, you're on the ice with the legends, they're not.

They'll also want to hear all about it so you might not have to buy your own beer for a month or so.

Take a lot of photos. Cherish them.

Do it Phil. You'll always wish you had, don't pass up the chance, The +'s far outweigh the -'s.

Do it. You'd be a fool if you passed the opportunity up because of appearance.

do me a favor and hip-check Benoit Brunet if he qualifies as "old-timer"

If Brisebois turns his back to you, hit him hard.

I know, I know, hitting from behind isn't funny. But it is if it's Patrice.

Ya gotta do it, but, be memorable. Pick the toughest guy, Robinson?, run him hard into the boards & then drop the gloves. A game misconduct in an old timers game, you'll be remembered for a long time.
