NCAA, European & Juniors discussion (no AHL) (con't...)

Hagelin #12

51 seconds into the clip he burns by a defenseman and goes around the back of the net and roofs the puck over the goaltender's shoulder.

Looks like a very gifted and fast player.

Doyle with a pinched nerve. No timetable for his return. As per Prospect Park Jan. 5:

Thanks for the vids.....Stephan seems to have a good eye for finding the open man and getting him the puck.

4 WJC players The Hockey News liked includes Grachev:

http://www.thehockeynews.com/article...-watching.html

Quote:
This guy is big, has tremendous power and uses it to his advantage. Grachev looked like a man playing among boys and steamrolled a number of outmatched opponents on his way to five points in seven games and a plus-3 rating.

Since heís already showed a desire to play in North America by choosing to leave Russia for the Ontario League, the New York Rangers look to have third-round steal on their hands.

To be sure, Grachevís game still needs fine-tuning in the defensive end before heís ready to jump to the big time, but since he already houses an NHL-sized frame, Grachevís development just needs to be guided, which it will be by Stan Butler in Brampton.

I don't like specifically drafting for size, as we see where that got us with a certain somebody IE Gusakov (JK), but sometimes the size is just part of the package.

What about Campbell? Did anyone mention him? I'd love to know what type of player his is. Looks like he can score.

Zaborsky

Guys what happened to Zaborsky. He's with Dayton now? I dont understand how it works. If you're in the Rangers system and playing Professional hockey doesn't have to be with either Hartford or Charlotte?

We loaned him out to Dayton. It's a good thing for him, since he'll see a marked increase in ice time with the new team. Should do him nothing but good developmentally.

BTW, in 3 games with Dayton he has 1G-1A-2P, -2, 2PIM.

Post 801 on this thread from Squishy:

Quote:
Erie Otters' officials were hopeful defenseman Mitch Gaulton would rejoin the lineup after the Christmas break. But his return hinged on being medically cleared by New York Rangers' doctors on a trip to New York City during the holiday break. That trip didn't occur, Otters head trainer David Stickney said before tonight's game against Kitchener at Tullio Arena.

Schedule conflicts caused by the holidays kept Rangers' doctors re-evaluating Gaulton's surgically repaired left elbow. That trip should be scheduled soon, Stickney said. Gaulton's return, Stickney said, "depends on what the doctors in New York say."

If those doctors are happy with his progress at the six-month mark since undergoing reconstructive surgery in July, Stickney said, then they will set a timetable for Gaulton's return.

For now, Gaulton practices with the team, but still hasn't been cleared for contact. He hasn't played a game this season. He missed most of last season after dislocating his elbow in October 2007.

I sincerely hope the "schedule conflicts" were caused by the Rangers doctors, and not Mitch.

Gaulton, who has played five games - none this season - since dislocating his left elbow in October 2007, could rejoin the lineup next week, Sherry Bassin, managing partner/general manager, said today. Club officials are waiting for final confirmation from team doctors and New York Rangers' specialists, which could occur in the next day or so, Bassin said. The Otters face Niagara and Sarnia on Jan. 16-17 at Tullio Arena.

"We expect that," Bassin said of Gaulton's return. "We're waiting for the doctors (to give) the go-ahead on him. We can't do anything until that's done. We expect that to be immiment. ... We believe, from what we understand, it's a basic formality."

del zotto traded to london
Quote:
John Tavares is headed to the London Knights.
Sources tell TSN that the Oshawa General scoring star has waived his no-trade clause and approved a trade to the Knights after Generals' general manager-coach Chris DePiero and Knights' general manager Mark Hunter successfully concluded trade talks Thursday morning.

Sources also tell TSN that Generals' defenceman Michael Del Zotto, a first round pick of the New York Rangers, is part of the trade package going to the Knights.

Thank God DZ was moved to a real team. Gets his chance to shine, now.

Go get 'em, DZ.

This is great for del zotto....Im hoping doyle is traded as well as I think he would put up more points on a team that is good and the experience of the playoffs is always good for a player looking to improve.

Does anyone thing Del Zotto can help with my "shell shock" that I'm still dealing with, as far as the loss of Brian Leetch to retirement

No right? Way too early to tell what Del Zotto can do in the Pro Ranks?

When I think of Del Zotto and Bobby Sangs, I start thinking of the days of a pp pairing of Brian Leetch and James Patrick. Remember him? Patrick was good folks. He was good with the Sabres as well.

Add Campbell to the list of high end prospects?

Oh another question I had before. I don't know how much he's been dicussed. But how much potential does Campbell, who I believe is playing for W.Michigan I believe? Anyone think he can be a wearing a Rangers sweater. Wow, like someone said. I don't understand how we can be disappointed in Mr. Glen Sather.

NCAA - Hagelin, Campbell, Stepan on the plus side. Negative side would be Hunter, Hobbs, and most certainly Beller.

Europe - Take a look at Kveton from the Czech Republic. Looking good! And the one player I do feel bad for. This guy won't stop putting up real solid numbers every where he goes. Jarkko Immonen (12g, 26A, 38pts, and a +19 in 37gp in the Finnish Pro leagues).

Jr's- Del Zotto, Kundratek, Doyle, Grachev* (Hope you guys had a chance to see him in the World Junior Championship).

Pro Ranks-Like Hf has stated, many guys graduated but still may have long futures with the Rangers. I can already think of 8 players.
But we also have Sauer, Sangs and Anisimov.

So that's already 20 young prospects to look forward too. Can't wait to see how it all unfolds.

Problems- Tragic and sad loss of a potential Super Star and let and behold the future of Sather and how he deals with the Rangers cap. But I must say, for the first time in a long time. I'm looking forward to many years of great Rangers Hockey.
Not talking about Stanley Cups, although I hope too see a few more in my lifetime but just a lot of overall exciting hockey.

Hahah, gravytrain, you need to follow this thread more closely! We talk about pretty much everything you've just mentioned.

As far as Campbell goes, he has a lot of upside, but whether or not he pans out is a crapshoot. He'll certainly need to bulk up a bit.

Grachev returned tonight to the OHL.

Had 1G/2A in a 6-2 win, he was also a +4 and named 2nd star.

Nice return.

He also moved into 1st in rookie scoring (well tied with one, but that guy has played 8 more games then Grachev).
