I don't sense any optimism on your part, is he close to a bust?

I just need to play a lot of games. I was injured last year and didn't play any games. So I want to come to North America, play a lot of games, and from that I think I can jump to the bigs."

Gauthier considers Torp, taken 163rd in the same draft as McDonagh and Subban, "a prospect," and said that bringing him to Canada next year "is something we'll have to talk about."

Interesting reference to Subban. During the handshake after the Gold Medal game Monday night, I noticed Subban and Torp give each other big hugs and they smiled and talked for a few seconds. It's obvious that they are buddies. Although who isn't friends with Subban.

I do remember noticing, though like you said everybody liked him, but at the latest dev. camp that they had fun together in some occasions. People were also wondering at the exhibition game, when Torp winked when he was in the penalty box, to whom that wink was directed towards.....and then you could see Subban not too far from the box....that was after Torp's 3rd Air Torpedo attempt....

I did miss the handshake though....

I made a point of looking for it. I think I even filmed it on my camera. Subban really went out of his way to give Torp a friendly hug. I meant to look for PK and McDo's handshake after the New Year's Eve Canada-USA game but I forgot and I'm still kicking myself for missing it.

No I don't think, I think our top 10 prospects all have very good chances of playing in the nhl down the road, I'd be very surprised if Fischer isn't a regular nhler down the road.

Can Paquet skate as well as advertised? How does he compare with Obyrne?

Yes he skates well with good speed, he reminds me a good bit of O'Byrne, both were physical players in the NCAA, O'Byrne was better imo but Paquet should be a nice depth guy to have around. Plus he's playing LD this year, so it might be good for him to stay at the position since we are thin on LD's.
