Tommy Larscheid just said on the Team 1040 that he's got a feeling that Luongo is going to be back sooner rather than later however he would not comment on when exactly he'd be back BUT from the sounds of it I wouldn't be suprised if Larscheid meant that Luongo might be back before the all star break!!!!

Edit:
Tommy didn't bite when Price asked him what he meant by that but just from Tommy's voice it sounded like he is expecting Luongo to be back sooner rather than later.

The quote was something like this...."I have a feeling that he (Luongo) will be back a lot sooner than people expect"

Now the expectations around town have been that Louie will be back right after the all star break so you have to assume that Larscheid believes Luongo might be back before the break.

Tommy Larscheid JUST saod that he has a 'Feeling' that Luongo will be back "sooner than people think" then price asked "how much sooner" and Tommy said "lets just leave it at that"

this is a guy that is probably THE biggest canucks fan ever, and travels with the team, the trainers, the players, talks to them. he knows something is up.........

According to Gillis yesterday on the team 1040 Salo is a little ahead of schedule and Luongo is expected to be back soon as well.

Edit:

Price is now speculating that Luongo might be back as soon as this weekend...

Now remember this is all specuation.

Dave Tomlinson believes that perhaps the Phoenix game which is around the 15th might be a date that Louie get's back into action.

I just really hope they give Luongo (or rather, Luongo gives himself) all the time he needs. The last thing this team needs is for him to come back too soon again and re-injure it. I'd almost rather just see him wait it out until after the all-star break to be safe. Unless they want to give him a game before the break and then use the break to help recover and strengthen it? I don't know, I'm just worried, this team has crappy groin management.

I agree.

Lababera has played real well for us and there's no reason what so ever for Louie to rush back unless he feels that he's 1000000% ready.

Why do people think it is the Canucks organization that is rushing Louie and not Louie himself? He is their prized pig. He hurts himself further and they are in deep trouble. I believe the pressure to come back is put on by himself.

The way LaBarbera is playing I ride him till he starts to falter. I don't see how Louie could be any better.

He's probably scared of losing his #1 title to Labarbera?

Even if he's back before the ASG, I really hope he doesn't play in it. A completely unnecessary risk of reaggrevation. Was pretty disappointed in the NHL's selections, actually. Should be D. Sedin/Mason, not Nash/Luongo.

I read in today's Sun that Johnson's finger isn't healing properly (due to the break not being clean, but instead a spinal fracture), and that he'll have to play with pain for the rest of the season.

It was a surprisingly brief quip in the paper for being such a serious statement.

I hope this isn't another set back

I'm pretty sure that was planned boys....

On the TEAM it said he left after 30 minutes to rest.

They aren't gonna throw him into his first practice for the full hour+

If someone wants to make a new thread they are free to (and I'll sticky it instead) but it's nice to have this thread to discuss ongoing injury situations instead of having new threads every time there is small news.

Some more news on Luongo:

Quote:
Luongo held out hope Thursday that he could be back before the Jan. 21-27 all-star break.

And while he was stopping shots in a controlled practice environment that did not include odd-man rushes that would tax his lateral movement, Sundin was working hard on special teams and situational play.

...

Even though his all-star game sweater was hanging in his locker, Luongo said no timetable has been set for his return.

"My main focus is getting back in the lineup and making sure that when I do, it's the right time," he said. "If it happens to be before the all-star game and I'm feeling good, I'd love to represent my team in my home town."

...

"He looked good out there," Burrows said of Luongo's 25-minute participation in practice. "He's great, he's strong and he's going to be a huge addition to our hockey team."

Luongo left the ice with a grin on his face and said he's pain free and not holding back to make kick saves.

"As far as timing, I don't know what it's going to feel like until I get into full practice and I'm sure it's going to be a bit of a battle at the beginning because being away for six weeks its not something easy to jump right in to," he said.

He's the only Canuck selected for the all-star game but Vigneault said the only way he'll participate is if he plays for Vancouver first.

"If he's ready a couple of games before that ... he'll play but the Canucks come first."
