Well I suppose we as Flames fan should be used to this, but the second period stank like last week's pizza. They had no energy and very little effort outside of a few players. When the Flames were going it was the first two lines doing anything, and not even the whole lines. Conny has been mainly invisible and Moss has too. There were moments again where the Flames played very well, like the first minute and half or so. And then the last four minutes. The rest of the period was well sub-par.
The power play was good, but again just less than acceptable. Six minutes STRAIGHT on the PP and the Flames are again unable to generate a single goal out of it. They just did not have any intensity or solid effort. Really only Iginla, Phaneuf and Bourque impressed me. Backlund had a couple chances too. I must forget that. The penalty kill was again without fault as everyone pressured the carrier and made life miserable for the Islander PP unit. Miikka was solid during the penalty kill.
As afore mentioned, Iginla, Langkow, and Bourque are by far and away the best Flames on the ice. The only Flames who really seem to have the Fire tonight. This has been a major disappointment, as the Flames should have dominated this game from the start, but instead have allowed the Islanders to set the pace and tone of the game. I blame both the defense for not getting back and Miikka for missing that second goal. That's one I feel Kipper should have gotten.

Have to agree, but then if the Flames are going to have a weak period then I rather it be the second. Hell of a lot better being all worried in third periods. Odd but this season, (post first San Jose Game) for the most good first, meh/bad second, good third. So the odds are our Flames are going to pull this one out.
