Jacques Beauchamp Trophy - Mid Season Prediction

So we are now a game away from mid-season. I was looking at the past winners of the Jacques Beauchamp Trophy and was thinking that the race might be close this year.

For those who are not too familiar with it, this trophy is awarded to the "unsung hero", which is the player who played an important role on the team during the season without obtaining any particular honor.

The last few years saw guys like Mark Streit, Francis Bouillon and Jan Bulis win the award.

Last year, Streit won the race, ahead of Hamrlik, Gorges and Komisarek.

So I suggest you this poll, vote for your 2008-09 winner.

Between Lapierre and Gorges, i can't choose... but Gorges is more a player of his own and is dominating defensivly.

I would pick those 2 as well, plus I would add Kostopoulous for my top 3 candidates.

My winner so far would be Lapierre.

Gorges has been impressive all year long while Lapierre, it's been only a month and a half or so. That's why I favor Gorges for now. Still, there are 42 games remaining.

As it stands right now, it's between Josh Gorges and Maxim Lapierre. Since Gorges plays a much bigger role on the team, my vote goes to him.

Lapierre with a most honourable mention for Gorges

Makes sense Dripper, Gorges has played amazing so far this year. The reason why I picked Lapierre is he seems to have improved the most since last season. Making him the biggest surprise IMO.

I agree that Lapierre was the biggest surprise and he'll be a lock if he keeps playing well defensively and ends the season with 15-20 goals. If not, Gorges should get it. He's been very consistent and I don't see him slowing down.

the more i'm thinking about it, Gorges is becoming less and less a unsong hero.

He's becoming less and less unsung, but as long as he'll be paid 1.1M$ and be +18, he's a likely candidate.

Josh Gorges right now and at season end Komisarek should be in the mix as well
