The problem is, Horton doesn't play well at center. He's a way better right winger and we already have a winger overload. It's all well and nice to imagine a Plek+ for Horton, but who plays center ??

Florida fans will tell you, he's at his best on a line with a a creative center and the best center the Panther's have is Weiss. I don't think Horton is the solution and, as Marc said, he's not an Eric Lindros light, he's more of a Rick Nash ligh which is a big skilled forward (not a big punishing forward). We already MaxPac on the wing in that mold and we should not decrease our already thin center depth for another winger.

Could it be that Horton could have asked for a trade?

As a Florida fan, my take on Horton, until recently, was that he was a major talent, who played great in spurts, but too often played lazy. Since his recent return from injury, he seems to be a changed player, plays both ends of the ice, hustles and hits. He has never played on a winning team, nor has he ever been surrounded by talent. IMO a "motivated" Horton on a talented team is a 40 goal scorer. An "unmotivated" Horton is a 20 goal scorer.

BTW I would counsel patience for the Habs. Allow your players to return from injury. IF your PP scoring doesn't improve, then make a trade.

I would like Regehr... he would add more toughness at the blueline.

What I've learn about Horton is that he is a lazy ass. I talked to some guys on the Florida Panthers board (I got Horton in my pool) and they told me that he doesn't show up every game.

My choice would be rather Kaberle or Bouwmesster

Regher, Orpik or Commodore could be nice.

Speculation: suppose the panthers are in playoff position come trade deadline (which is quite possible), are they really sellers? Would they trade bouwmeester or others or would they buy?

That's why the talk is a trade with Ottawa. if Boumeester agreed to sign in Ottawa, I'm betting Spezza/Kuba for Boumeester/Forward not Horton.
