Laraque will be back when his mind is on hockey

I quote Tony Marinaro when I say "Laraque will be back when his mind in on hockey"

Nothing is broken and he doesn't need surgery, he flew to Pittsburgh with the team and when he got their he was on the first flight back to Montreal.

If you ask me, Laraque is either:

1) Not interested in playing for the Habs anymore and feels the pressure and the stress of the city.
2) Is not seeing eye to eye with Carbonneau.
3) Has asked for a trade.

I don't see him back next season for some reason and after last night's game, WE NEED THE GUY!!!

What do you guys think?

I'm surprised by the news but not that upset over it. He takes up cap space and a valuable spot on the team IMO (when he is actually playing). I see him as being completely useless. Probably not in the majority but that's what I see. He can't keep up with the play and doesn't even do his job of an enforcer well.

Are you ****ing serious?

Seriously, for a guy that's paid to fight, he doesn't even do it. Who the **** is he to say "I fight only guys that want to go with me", what kind of bull is that?! I can guarantee you Carbonneau probably told him the same thing ,and good on him, if he doesn't want to get his ass and head in place, he's just taking up a roster space and $1.5 million on the cap.

oh boy

Laraque was playing fine hockey before he got injured again. This is just one of those episodes we won't remember in 6 months.

I think Laraque did a great job till now. But i think he should have never talked to the media, especialy JC Lajoie.

Are you kidding me? Laraque did nothing hockey wise, and was completely useless when he didn't fight.

He's been a boatload of a disappointment, the only reason RDS hasn't started going after him hard is because he's from around here.

Great job how exactly? That is an honest question...what has he done that has been useful?

I think we are a better team when he is in the press box.

Didn't Carbonneau say something a while back that sounded like he was annoyed with Laraque, either for his poor conditioning or that he suspected him of begging off games when he could actually be playing?

I was a big fan of the Laraque signing but so far our whole season has turned into "well if Laraque was in the lineup, things would be different!!!" and it's getting old. We've done this well without him so the way I see it, if he comes back then fine, but if not, oh well.

Ship them Chipchura....I know somebody who would be happy....
I'd love to have him. A big guy that can actually play hockey and still kick the **** out of people.

Before anyone gets all bent out of shape, re-read the original post. That is the guy's opinion. We don't know what is or is not actually wrong with Laraque.

Chipchura might be risky but I really really like Artyukin. It is still possible to get him for something cheaper than that.

Well "Laraque will be back when his mind in on hockey" seems to me more than an opinion....

A) Tony is a host on the Team 990, Montreal sports radio station.
B) Because he has connections and is usually a reliable source of information.

Team 990, mid morning guy. I heard him talk about how by next year and the year after, the contract could be a burden, but didn't here that quote, so I'd wonder about context. He was the first, to my knowledge to announce that the CH had the inside track on signing him.

I think they're frustrated that they appear to have signed damaged goods.

Well he did fight a couple of guy and won (something we haven't seen frequently in Montreal) he's feared by everyone, other players are quiet when he's on the ice, he played great hockey before his last injury, he was even paired with Tanguay and Lang in key situations. And i realy think the Habs needs an enforcer, and we got the best in the league, plus he can play hockey as a 4th liner.

EDIT and for the new flavor of the month (last month was Lucic month) Artyukin is not a figther, he lamost never drop his gloves. You dont replace the meanest heavyweight in the league by a checker when you dont have someone else who can fight on the team.

Maybe it could also be personal problems such as an illness in his family?

The other thing with Laraque is he's exactly like what Pens and Yotes fans warned us about - he's too nice, and he follows his code a little too strictly. If you don't want to fight him he won't make you, so why should anyone be scared of him?

We should've picked up that David Koci a while back, he's almost as big as Chara, even though the latter kicked his ass a while back.

Bet you it’s because he doesn’t like fighting and he realizes he has no other choice if he’s going to play.
