Hell no to JJ for Higgins!

Every time I see Higgins, he looks like a 3rd liner!

I'd be willing to deal Higgins for JJ. With Latendresse's recent development and the play of both Pacioretty and D'Agostini, I think Higgins has become expendable.

Yeah I have to agree with you. This is why we aren't GMs, we are incredibly bias toward our own players and it makes it so hard to part ways with them when it comes to trades. We would be making pitches if someone from Pittsburgh asked what would it take to get Sergei over there. I mean Obviously someone would yell out Malkin or Staal. Its just common to over-rate and over-price your prospects.

With Johnson not playing at all this year his stock is down alot for sure, so I cant see us getting a deal we find worth while, I assume we will re-sign him for two-three mil for three to four years

This Los Angeles thing, who knows. You also gotta remember that a lot of players just get dealt a lot and has nothing to do with attitude or conditioning. Look at Steve Bernier. Never heard a single bad thing about the kid but he's already played for the Sharks, Sabres and now Canucks. And I doubt he'll be a Canuck for life.

LA is 3 points behind a playoff spot for the first time in a very long time and despite a lot of young talent, they are not getting the fire power they need to survive in the West. When your only veteran support is Armstrong, Handzus, O'Donnell and Gauthier, you're going to need more presence. Maybe trading a guy like Jack Johnson, when you can probably expect Thomas Hickey to come in next season, can bring in the type of veteran experience you need to bring to the team, plus a better goaltender to rely on. Maybe package Jack Johnson to acquire Roberts, Recchi and Kolzig from the Lightning along with a Lightning pick.
How come Lou Lamoriello's crazy ?

And btw, its.. Jim Rutherford .

Higgins for JJ?....

I still wouldn't do it. More from Mtl in order to get something done.

Seriously though, I do agree it would take more than just Higgins.
Maybe Higgins+1st in 2010+Carle?

Gotta admit, the Bruins/Habs rivalry would be turned up YET ANOTHER NOTCH with Johnson and Kessel exchanging words and battles along the right side of the ice!

That would be awsome as long as JJ would eb the one dealing the pain to Kessel

Yeah, with all that talent, makes me wonder why LA isn't #1 in the West

You do realize that the Habs' secondary scoring comes from lines #2-3-4....

Also, I can't believe someone said Bernier is a "Price type" goalie. Yes Bernier is good and has a lot of potential, yet he's nowhere near Price.

I stopped reading this thread after I read from Kingsfan that they had their own Price in Bernier. That did it for me.

Habs don't need to be trading for somebody like Jack Johnson. We already have excellent young d prospects.
Kopitar is something we don't have though!

Exploitable. Let's put it that way. When I watched the Moose vs. Lewiston in the play-offs, all the players just went glove and that's how they scored their goals. Unfortunately the Mooseheads goaltending was insanely worse.

He may have improved upon it now, but I was never a big Bernier fan.

Yes, an elite third-liner. Which is what we are all saying. So now that you agree on that, you can stop talking about him.

Price was quite often brutal in the WHL.

Price started out in one of the worst WHL teams at the time... a bit like Roy with Granby. The Americans only got to win because of Price.

There's a huge difference in potential between Price and Bernier. You can see it at the age they're at right now. Name me goalies who were as solid as Price is at his age, you'll probably list franchise goalies that had tremendous careers in this league.

Not to say Bernier won't be a great goalie, but Price is one big step ahead, in development and potential.

Price = Future franchise goalie potential
Bernier = Very good goalie potential
