I missed the game...but is it a fair statement to say the Caps simply ran into a hot goalie?

I'd guess Johnson, not that this loss was Theo's fault but Bruce usually switches it up after we lose.

Not at all. They certainly did run into a hot goalie, but they seemed to basically give up from the beginning of the second until a few minutes left in the third. Passes were nowhere near target all night, and no one was fighting the small battles. Once again, I was embarrassed to have bought a Green jersey last year. Alzner looked like an AHLer. What a horrible game.

Forget about this game and move on.

They were out of sync all night. They'd over pass when they should have taken a shot, they'd take a shot when they should have passed and times when they did pass, it would be hard when it needed to be soft, and soft when it should have been hard. They wouldn't wait for passing lanes to open and when they were open, they wouldn't pass.

I don't know if it was the ice or what, but the guys were wiping out and stumbling all over the place. There was one section near the boards at the end where they shoot twice where Ovie fell on a shot and a couple other guys fell in roughly the same spot.

After a while they got frustrated and started playing an individual game rather than a team game.

If I didn't know any better, I would have thought this game was the one before the All Star Break when guys start thinking about their
holidays at 10 minutes into warm ups and forget they need to play a game before they can go home and finish packing for the beach.

They need to throw this game away and forget about it and come out on fire Saturday night.

I think you have to give the Jackets a lot of credit, they came in to DC and pretty much played a perfect game.

Jackets played a good game. After pimping the caps to my friends all season long there were at least four people I knew who went to their first game last night. Luckily they too realized this was an off game.

Our power play seems to live on the off wing shooter. It will never work when the passes are in front of the guy, as they were repeatedly last night. what few good chances we had, we fanned or broke sticks. But it was almost pointless running into Mason. We needed to remember a shutout was pending and not do what we did last time against CBJ, and instead do what we did late in the playoffs, attack the net with bodies. Sitting Fehr was a mistake. Laich cant do it all alone. As noted by others, Bradley seems invisible lately and maybe could have used a day off.

Mason kept the jackets in the game in the first, but after that, they played decently (considering their lineup).

Jackets also got a bit lucky late with guys missing the open net or hitting posts.

Imo, the Caps didn't have near enough traffic or drive at the net and relied on Ovechkin's shot to get through.

Washington Post beat writer Tarik El-Bashir guesses that Johnson will get the start tonight.

I wonder if we missed Nylander. Lets face it, he is at his best on the PP. Maybe he should be a PP specialist and 4 on 4 guy mainly. Anywho we had plenty of shooters and shots last night, but outside of Nick, we are a little thin dishing the puck around. One can say that we were unlucky had tons of chances etc, but all those posts we hit, great goalies only give you the post. Our passing was lagging, and sometimes you need great passing to beat a good goalie.

It's a little early to say non-playoff team don't you think?

CurrentlyCBJ4 he is right.. we are in 9th just out of the

playoffs. It's the truth.. but with our record vs the East, especially the Eastern playoff teams... well that doesn't matter much either, but think of the possibilities eh?

I know this Washington doesn't want anymore to do with Columbus now do they?

Ain't that the truth. I'm sure you'll forgive us if we root against you making it to the finals...

2 wins out of 10 and they are talking trash. Typical Ohio sports fan behavior.

I guess if you're a franchise that doesn't ever make the playoffs your fans have to take solace in things like this.

The Caps beat the Habs twice so far this season and opened against the Hurricanes with two consecutive wins, and not one person from this board went to their sites taunting them with crap like that.

I know the majority of BJ fans aren't tools, but the idiots like you make stomaching the futility of your franchise that much easier.

Sorry for the out of character post fellas, but that annoyed me.
