Hot Habs Fan

I know if is about the allmighty $. TB would lose big time on this deal. Initially and long term (huge fan loss).

What does Montreal have that Tampa needs (and is equitable)?

Cant see trading your superstar and losing all those fans. I cant imagine the loss in attendance/revenue from effects of trading Vinny. There was a huge backlash from Dan Boyle being traded to San Jose. Fans were really torqued off.

What would TB get in return? TB needs TOP BLUE-LINERS! More forwards, not really worth it. Goaltending has been a huge issue for the past 3 years in TB. Would Montreal be willing to give up Carey Price??

If Vinny get's traded here, will you buy a Habs jersey?

According to RDS 5 teams including Montreal are talking to the Bolts regarding Vinny. It's splayed all over their front page.

There is a very real probability that Vinny gets traded to another team. The media would go berserk and Gainey would never hear the end of it, especially if it was not a Western team, but that hardly means it is not the right move for the Canadiens to take a pass. He does have a hefty contract.

If TB had Jay Feaster as the GM, Montreal would get Lecavalier, Ranger, Jokinen in return for you 4 worst players and your 10 rd draft pick in 2017.

That is the other thing that is in favor for ALL Habs fans. The fact that Lawton is the GM. Is is almost as bad as Feaster (former GM).

LeBrun:

TSN's Darren Dreger reported Monday the Montreal Canadiens have shown strong interest in acquiring Lecavalier and have offered Chris Higgins and possibly Tomas Plekanec as part of a big package. A source told ESPN.com on Monday the Habs have "caught Tampa's attention."

Tampa will probably ask him we're he would like to go,after that they would decide if the deal is good or not for them.He his still far far away from being a member of the Montreal Canadiens.

I don't believe it. But I would make sure he would want to come here before trading for him.

If it's Lebrun, he's not the kind to make things up.

I just hope BG clarifies this with the players as quickly as possible, or pulls off the trade. Pleks was just starting to come into his own ! we don't need this adventure running rampant through the room .

I'll bet Dan Boyle was thinking he wasn't going anywhere either, after he signed his contract extension.

These are interesting times.

Ditto. But there's too much media noise all over this to make me think nothing's happening. And Renaud Lavoie broke the story on Vinny's 11-year contract.

Of course, in all likelihood, all that's going to happen in the end is talks.

And this kids, is why you should never have a username with the name of a player you like.

Since Gainey doesn't really open his game, strange that to the question and how about Vinny, he avoided to respond to that one by saying that he's hearing MORE about Gaborik and Bouwmeester than him.....I mean, fine way to avoid responding...and journalists didn't push it.....

There has been steady and consistent dialogue with general manager Bob Gainey and the Montreal Canadiens and it's believed there may be a package discussed that could include as many as four NHLers including Christopher Higgins (no big surprise there, the Canadiens always seem to have Higgins in trade discussions), who was included in trade talk with Toronto last year to land Mats Sundin.

Tomas Plekanec's name has been thrown out there, along with a prospect believed to be in the mix - perhaps PK Subban of the Belleville Bulls - and draft picks.

2 players, 1 prospect, and possibly draft choices. That is way too much for Lecav. Hope Bob stays right away from that.

I would tend to agree, but more that his contract is not worth it as it could hurt us in the future.

Even if the journalist is the hell of evil, they respect Bob, like everybody in the league, they wouldn't dare pushing him into answering something he doesn't want to answer.

By pushing it, it means asking him 1 MORE question so he could at least answer about Lecavalier. He didn't answer anything about Vinny, talked about Gaborik and Bouw.....I'm not talking about torturing him here....One thing is sure though....you call it respect, I call it fear. Most journalists are great to blast the Habs when he's not around but when he is....everything is fine.
