Not knocking him, just being honest. Price's glove hand has looked better this year though.

Hab fans,

You gotta put things into perspective, bernier is the second coming of Christ, because we are King fans. And as King fans he could possible be the best goalie we have seen for 30 years. so ya. We're excited. while everyone else is like, ya he's good but he no (fill in the blank).

Getting Johnson would be like an embarassement of riches as far as all the young prospect at defense that he Habs have everywhere. I thought Johnson was playing poorly in LA, if it was the case then maybe there would be a possibility there for a trade. There's also the idea that the team is tired of losing and want established guys to come help them so they could think of trading a young guy like that.

Not sure if its been mentioned since I haven't read the entire thread but one of Pierre McGuire's best friends is Dean Lombardi, GM of the Kings. If Pierre is saying that JJ may be traded - he would know.

What about Carle?

If Price was quite often brutal in the WHL, then basically every goalie in the WHL was brutal all the time.

1- I don't think Bernier is as good as Price. No way.

2- On the other hand, Bernier was not all that bad at the WJC. He had a SO facing more than 40 shots in his first game against Czech Republic and was not that bad the rest of the way.

3- WJC performance is just not a good way to judge a goalie. Those were all WJC standouts : Denis, Cloutier, Storr, Karpenko, Lasak, Boucher, Glass, Aebischer, etc.

In essence I agree that Bernier is not in Price's class. Still, I believe the whole WJC arguement is flawed.

No, Jack is good friends with Sidney Crosby. When coming to the King's, Jack wanted to be number 78 (reversal of Crosby's 87) but Crawford denied players having numbers that high.

I highly doubt the King's will trade Jack. Jack's dad is at a lot of the King's practices and talks to fans whoever wants to speak with him. He did mention he was a little frustrated on how things were being run last year (Crawford not letting the young ones play), but thinks the Kings are now in the right direction.

If a guy's dad is at practice, talking to the media, alarms go of in my head and believ me, it's very seldom that anything happens up there.

Jesus Christ, imagine Toe Blake hearing that Cournoyer's Dad was telling the media that all was well. Thank God, Toe's not around for this.

So you expect that if we trade for him, that we have to rip them off because they got ripped off last time.

Just because it happened doesn't mean that its reasonable to expect it will happen again. Do you really expect that if SJ trades Thornton, they'll get trash like Boston did?

There were a lot of scouts, and analysts, who thought Price had way too many holes in his game to be considered a top 10-15 pick. You can look at his junior record however you like, but he was no "second coming of anything" heading into the draft.

He was traded there because Carolina believed he would not play in the NHL until college was over. But I think you mentioned that in a matter-of-fact way rather than an "I think the Kings would make a similar boneheadead trade" way, so I agree with you on that. If JJohnson is going anywhere, it will be in a package where the Kings are getting a #2 center or 1st line scoring winger coming back.

Well Bob McKenzie had him 7th although does state it wasn't unanimous with scouts but also said he was a top 10 talent. ISS had him 10th. He was the top rated goalie.

It seems to me reading back he was likely a top 10 pick by majority but could fall mainly because of team needs and willingness to use a top 10 pick on a goalie.

Come on guys, as a Red Wings fan, and a Kings fan, I always thought that Habs fans were some of the most knowledgeable fans in the league. There is a huge upside to Johnson, and Dean Lombardi has mentioned Jack as a cornerstone of the rebuilding movement along with Kopitar, and Brown.

It would take a lot more than Higgins I say to bring Johnson to Montreal. I would also include picks and a top tier prospect

Well, that's bit along the lines of the trade I was thinking... Higgins, Webber and some picks.
