And I'm happy that Grossman clearly came to play tonight.... but does anyone else find it slightly unseemly that it's against the Swedish All-Star team? He played the same way in the WCF. I hope he's turning a corner this year and it's not just a one-off performance.

Parrish got the goal? Better change it.

Jesus. Grossman has come to play tonight. Big time. Hopefully he can keep it up.

Hee, Grossman noogies.
Isn't that like three penalties in six games on Lehtinen or something? Dirty, dirty Finn.

Jesus this defense is bad.
Let me say that Jesus, Sydor is bad. Why will they not scratch this guy? Why do they continue to play him 20 minutes a game? It's as baffling to me as the fact that they continue to play Turco is to some of you guys.

Jesus. Freakin. Christ.
Can we please get Turco some help?
3-1 Detroit.

Would be nice if playing against Lidstrom had the same affect on Grossman as playing in front of Gretzky has on Ribeiro.

There's that 2 goal lead again.
That post-road team goal song is annoying. Why do they always use it?

Ott and Modano were allowing the Wings to pass across the box with impunity...

can't really put that one on Turco either. The defense is really bad. But Turco just doesn't seem very confident

Yup.
And Niskanen and Sydor were near Wings but weren't actually covering anybody. That was just a fail PK all the way around.

Sydor needs to be dropped off at a bus station somewhere and sent on his way. He isn't even playing AHL worthy.

I was thinking the same thing.
Also, they came back from the break to the tune of "Nevermind" on the organ, which I found odd.

Heh. The Wings even dive on a forecheck hit.
This defense is just atrocious. Turco has had some nice saves, but the first goal was a killer and it can't happen in a game against a team as good as the Wings. Sydor needs to retire now and stop embarrassing himself.
Anyone else see the giveaways stat? Seven Dallas giveaways, none for the Wings.

I ask out of ignorance, but how do Stars fans feel about the Boucher for Sydor deal? What was the thinking behind it?

Turco looks solid, save for one mega-lunge at an odd deflection...
The Wings swarm like bees.

Sydor's a good player for a team like Atlanta where you need warm bodies to play the minutes and at the same time his "leadership" keeps all the youngsters in check and helps them forget their playing for an AHL team..
I guess it's fitting he's on Dallas, we're playing like Atlanta right now.

Boucher couldn't stay on the ice due to injuries.
Modano was bent out of shape by Avery so his buddy Hull got him his other buddy Sydor to placate him.
The trade was pretty uniformly disliked by Stars fans. And of course now we see why.

The Wings move their legs. The Stars often don't. The Wings are also really good at using their free arms and setting little picks, which is a great help if you can be subtle about it and get away with it (see: Modano, Mike).
