LA would be crazy to do from a hockey perspective but would have to consider it from a financial/marketing perspective. Dustin Brown is not ever going to create any buzz in that town. There is nobody on that team that is a marketer's dream. They have really good, hard-working players(and a very bright future). LA not a lunch pail town who is going to come out to see a bunch of good boys working hard.

To put fannies in the seats, they need star power. One of the very top players in the world could create that buzz to fill that arena up and sell sweaters.

Your claim would make sense except Pittsburgh (superstars and all) is in the bottom half of average attendance.

I'm going by this-
http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/attendance

As well, just because tickets are sold doesn't mean people went to to the game.

Oh and before I hear the standard 'they will send him to the minors, we can afford it hahahaha' I always hear. That is some policy. Sign with us, play for a year and either end your career in the minors or agree to end your contract. Some advert for signing in Philly. In any event a LOT of teams, especially ones who are competing for a top spot, have a LOT of money invested in forwards including comparable salaries to Malkin and Crosbys for far lesser players. Crosby and Malkin are not the problem. If anything it is the role players, but even more that their core remains so damned young. Most can not even drink legally in the United States. Crosby and Malkin are not a problem on this team at all and their salaries are bargains any team would take.
Flyers dont really use a checking line. Richards or Carters line will always be playing against the top line of the opposing team. And Briere has played wing a few times starting at the end of the playoffs last season and in the beginning of this season so its not set in stone hes the third line center.

Have you watched any of the Pittsburgh games on TV? The seats at Mellon Arena are always full of spectators.

Our attendance % which is what you should be looking at is 104%(not sure how it can be over 100) which puts us Third in the league.

malkin is the best player in the world. i couldn't give two craps about picks/prospects from the kings. last i checked they are still a cellar dweller while the pens are coming off two back to back 100+ point seasons and a cup final appearance. i don't buy into this kings hype until they actually perform and make the playoffs. as of now they're still a bad, unproven team.

When a team is struggling, usually the best thing to do is trade away the best player in the league. Only on HFboards.

I can see Malkin and Crosby as a Penguin for a majority of their career. They wouldn't trade their franchise players. But theoretically, they could give up one for a "package-deal" that could replace the missing holes of the team. Maybe they can pick up a veteran or two.

Like the Pens were during their 6 years of lets suck for top picks. I still think the Crosby draft was rigged to keep the Pens in Pittsburgh.

The penguins currently have 44 points. While the crappy kings got 40 points. So let me do some math...

44-40 = 4

If Malkin means that much to ya, Keep him!

You are gonna love when we get Tavares or Hedman this year then. Once more, be careful what you wish for. We may just have one more year of sucking at the right time in us.

Malkin was in game 6 of the SCF last year and will be again before the Kings.

Malkin cost the Pens in the finals more than he helped. He led the Wings transition with his stupid drop passes at the blueline.

Wow I understand the sentiment to not trade away the best player of the world. But acquiring brown would help out the penguins in the area they are going to have the biggest problem with in the coming future, the salary cap. Brown's contract is easily among the best in the league and would be invaluable to a team like pittsburgh because it would allow them more cap space to pay Crosby what he is worth while being able to go out and spend the money to get him a quality winger. Pen's fan running their mouth like Brown is a prospect should probally watch hockey and become a fan of the NHL, not just the pens when they are good.

When did he say anything about a trade? He said the only way you are going to get Malkin is if he hits free agency, or if he ASKS for a trade.

Got a little rambuctious with that post, boss. Might want to read whole whole sentence first.

Crosby doesn't even exist, he's just a fabrication of the media.

Also, 4 is apparently 6. Nothing gets past you.
