Doughty with thigh contusion

Artuykhin's hit on Doughty is the reason why he's injured. .

Well good thing we'll get to see these guys again this year and get our vengeance..

Oh... wait.

God our team is a bunch of pansies. This team needs to grab their c**** and sack up. Piss and vinegar, boys. Good Lord.

figures. we get close to getting one defenseman back and another gets injured. ugh

frankly, it angers me more that artyukhin got away with that **** AND OD got a penalty (albeit somewhat deserved) for sticking up for his teammate. A) The refs can go **** themselves and B) OD should not be the only one showing emotion. ****. can it be next season already?

It's a ****ing bruise. If he misses the next game I'd be surprised.

I won't be surprised if there isn't a suspension to that goon boot...since it WAS against a player on the Kings roster... Just call that insult to injury...

I have also gotten to the point that I believe if a goon takes out a King with a dirty hit...it's a public service to the NHL offices...yet a clean hit by a Kings player (see John Zeiler) warrants a three game suspension...

He's a rookie, they might rest him. Wouldn't be the worst idea.

I don't think the hit was that dirty. I just have a problem with him running one of our stars. That being said, my feelings wouldn't have been hurt if OD had taken an instigator call on Artyukhin in his defense.

In the post-game interviews, OD seemed to indicate that if he had know Doughty was really hurt things might have been different.

Too little, too late, Sean.

Definitely. . I actually wouldn't mind if he had the night off. Let's get Preissing some ice time, would help his trade value

"Thigh contusion" = "charley horse". He'll be back for the next game if that's indeed all it is. It's a bruise on the thigh. It hurts like hell, but he'll wear a leg sleeve and he'll be fine.

A little more info on them: http://my.clevelandclinic.org/disord..._overview.aspx

Doesn't it also depend on the grade of the contusion. . a grade 1 hurts to walk. .

Edit: Opps, maybe I should wait for the link to load before I start talking about severity. . Thanks Tony. Do we know what grade his contusion is?

Does it really matter if he was hurt or not? When you run a star usually something happens. I remember earlier this year Oscar Moller got hit hard by some guy from Toronto and Armstrong went n and fought him. But when our BEST young player gets run no one does jack ****

JJ's return should hopefully provide some bite. The guy fought twice in a game late in the year sticking up for teamates. Hopefully it will rub ff on some.

I know some people like to say it's just a bruise, but here are two name to think about -- Myositis Ossificans and Cam Neely.

I imagine more people are familiar with Neely, but Myositis Ossificans is just as infamous since it ended Neely's career and it's a condition that can occur from a complication of a contusion stemming from returning to activity too soon. Basically it causes bone to begin growing inside of and around your muscles and turn it into a hardened mass.

You can read about it more here.

Too bad he didn't run out there on the ice last night in his coat and tie and take someone out!

Now THAT would have been something to see

I'm not saying that Drew Doughty has more than a bruise but this is a hockey team and it is definitely possible they are giving you all the details as well. I guess will find out soon enough.

It one of those injuries where you saw exactly what happened and how. It's definitely just a thigh bruise.

I have to say that I am worried about the leadership on this team.

We can all bad mouth Crawford and the players under him all we want but I have a feeling Thornton, Lappy or Avery would have done something to the Lighting players last night....Either that is the players, team captains or coaching I don't know...But that was awful the lack of reaction by the Kings players...

Looks like coaching had nothing to do with it.

It was obvious that Ivanans was trying to get something going with Artyukhin, but Artyukhin isn't stupid. His team had a lead and he isn't going to go up against a heavyweight like Ivanans. At this point somebody like Greene needs to step in, especially if a guy like Zeiler isn't in the line-up. Greene should target a player like Lecavalier. I'm not saying take an over the top run at him or just take an instigator, but just let the Lightning know that their star players have targets on them now.
