Johnson had the highest impact of any of these on an individual game basis, but he hasn't gotten enough starts to be the MVP overall. Backstrom takes this (Poti would if he had been healthier and Alzner hadn't been such a revelation).
When Fedorov is healthy, Tom Poti, although he isn't as much of a difference maker now that Alzner is here. The Caps have 5 good centers besides Backstrom, but only 2 good defensive D-men (Alzner and Poti).
I voted Semin. This team could be down fighting with Florida and Carolina pretty easily without him at the beginning of the year. He was the 1st star of the month in October and is 2nd highest in points per game in the NHL.
Ovie didnt get back on track till Semin banked one in off him and Backstrom didnt get back on track till Ovie did.
Backstrom may have had the better season but this is about Most Valuable Player and Semin was leading the league in scoring through the first 15-20 games of the season.

Its Semin but not without thought. Semin held the team afloat when Ovi was slow out of the gate. Then he helped get Ovi going. While dominating the league. But Backstrom came on like gang busters. Green has 11 goals. Poti would be more of a candidate if those 3 haven't scored much.
I would have said Semin 2 months ago however at the moment it has to be Backstrom.
Without Semins hot start we would have never won the games we did but at the moment it has to be Backstrom.
Every single game he pulls out all the stops, plays his hardest and this season has been one of the most consistent players in the leauge.
His points wont reflect this but any Caps fan can see what im on about.
