Hockey's Future best Of Everything In hockey

Last summer i bought THN's Best of everything in hockey and i have an idea. My idea is to have a best of everything in hockey right here at HF boards. If you would like to participate please make a list of the top 6 forwards to ever play for the oilers, the top 4 defencemen, the top 2 goalies, and the best coach. Please keep in mind that i dont want playerswho have had succesful careers but when they played for the oilers they did not have sucess. If you have any questions or comments please PM me.

PS: if any of the moderators could sticky this that would be wonderful

G
Fuhr
Moog

D
Lowe
Coffey
Huddy
Fogolin

F
Messier
Gretzky
Kurri
Anderson
Tikkanen
Ryan Smyth

I'm sure I've forgotten someone, but these are the guys who came to mind. A few other notes:

Worst Oiler hockey injury: Brett Callighen's eye injury from Brad McCrimmon's stick.
Biggest goal in Oil history: Messier's killer against the Islanders in 1984, beauty move at the blueline and a Bobby Hull shot to finish it.
Best coach: Sather
Guy no one ever mentions anymore: Stan Weir
Oiler who was supposed to be 99's LW and wasn't: Raimo Summanen
Best Oiler to play 10 or more regular season games and not register a point: Ray Cote (after a good playoff in 1983).
Biggest tragedy in Oiler history: Don Ashby
They could make a movie about: the truly touching moment when Steve Smith, the mother of all goats (that doesn't look right, but it's late) the previous year, was handed the Stanley Cup in 1987. I believe that Cup was the first one with Smith's name on it.

My list is the same as LT's except Ranford is in for Moog, and Niinimaa in for LF Fogolin.

Also, one thing I want to add.... most valuable person in Oilers history (IMO it's between 5 people: Lowe, Sather, Gretzky, Messier, Hunter(Bill, not J.J. ). My pick is Lowe - we all know why we would and woun't pick one of the four, no point to discuss, just curious of the opinion.

Since top 6 forwards does not specify position Im gonna have more than 2 C's.

Gretzky
Messier
Kurri
Weight
Anderson
Smyth (had a hard time between him and Tikkanen, Simpson also got some consideration but longevity as an Oiler was a factor for me, keep in mine I was young during the dynasty days)

Coffey
Lowe
Niinimaa
Muni (sorry Im a sucker for the hip check)
*considered Smith but "the goal" has to count against him.

Fuhr
Ranford
(Ranford is my fav Oiler goalie all time but almost had to give the love to CuJo thanks to two first round upsets, one unbelievable cross crease diving save, and one 52 save shut out against the leagues best team)

Meh... I never liked Coffey as a defenseman, he would have made a much better forward.

For allegedly being the fastest player in the league, he took more hooking and tripping penalties chasing people from behind than anyone else I can recall.

He'd probably be on my list of 6, but I liked Lowe and Huddy a lot growing up, and I loved Beukeboom in his short time here (I have a jersey)... and I love Niinimaa's heart and dedication.

not on topic really, but man what i wouldnt do to have niinimaa back (without his salary of course ).... niinimaa/brewer, smith/staios, semenov/*insert one of MAB, cross, ulanov* would be a VERY good defence..... *sigh*

Fuhr
Ranford

Coffey (48 goals in a season and only defenceman who could go end to end then be the first man back!)
Lowe
Huddy
Manson (great shot, career collapsed after getting punched in the throat)

Gretzky
Messier
Kurri
Anderson
Weight (last Oiler to get 100pts, great leader)
Nicholls (key piece to the line with Damphousse and Murphy, almost brought us to the finals in 92)

Best Oilers

Fuhr / Ranford

Gretzky / Kurri / Messier / Anderson / Weight / Smyth

Coffey / Lowe / J. Smith / Huddy

Jason Smith reminds me of Kevin Lowe (very similar styles of play including playing through injuries)
