Value is.... he's not going anywhere for anything short of an absolutely massive overpayment.

Veteran goalie with playoff experience
2nd line center
Forward Prospect
Goalie Prospect

Something like that should do it than.

if Ward was a 30 something veteran goalie with playoff experience, then yes. But he's 24, so it's going to take more then that, a good bit more.

All I can say is that he shouldn't have won the Conn Smythe. And i'm not just saying that as an Oilers fan. Pronger should have won it!

Agreed but you're wrong on who the winner should have been, it should have been Staal or Brind'Amour. Either way, Ward would have been about the #4 selection that year for me.

Not enough to make it worth trading.

Pronger was hugely important to the oilers, but the canes had the leading playoff scorer in Staal and got amazing play and timely goals out of Brind'amour. Oh, and they won the cup. So any of those guys should've got it before Pronger.

Agreed. Pronger was no where near dominant enough to overthrow a cane player for the Conn Smythe. And you can argue Cam getting it. That's fine. It's certainly debatable but without him we would have been dead in the water so I don't mind it. Personally I have him just a hair behind Staal and Brindy but he was absolutely fantastic during that run.... and a rookie too. Youtube some of those saves. They were amazing and incredibly clutch.

The thought of going into to watch a Hurricanes game without Cam Ward scares me. He has steadily improved form the start of his career and he puts up great numbers for a team like the Hurricanes. There are not many goalies who can start at so young of an age, his value would be very high.
