I'm not sure because I believe the Messier deal happened right after the Canada Cup and Beukeboom played several games for us that year. I think he got a penalty shot and missed in the first home game of the '91-92 season against Winnipeg.

Oops I just looked it up and it was 90 when Beuk had the penalty shot. He did play 18 games for us in 91-92 and 56 for the Rags. Messier played 79 for the Rangers, so the trades occured a couple months apart.

Actually, you are both right...

When Messier was dealt, it was:

Messier and Future Considerations
for
DeBrusk, Nicholls and Rice

The future considerations in the deal was a deal in Novemeber that Saw the Beukeboom for Shaw trade, so that trade was to complete the original deal.

Which, in the grand scheme of things was a terrible trade.
