Ottawa-Colorado

To Colorado:
Phillips, Smith, Vermette, 2nd

To Ottawa:
Liles, Leopold, Laperriere, 1st

Makes Ottawa more mobile on the back end, and very possibly gives Colorado that extra push to get into the playoffs.

Gives Ottawa space for next year, and gives Colorado solid players to build off of.

Flame away!

We need all the scoring from our d-men we can get. Plus Leo and Liles are younger than Smith and Phillips. Vermette has been brutal this season, I think Lappy has more points than he does. So no thanks, from a Colorado perspective.

Phillips has a NTC, and I doubt that he would waive it to go to Colorado.

Not sure why Colorado would deal two of its more mobile, offensive defencemen and get two stay-at-home types back. That would leave the Avs without any puck-moving defencemen.

Take Liles and Phillips out and you might have something:

Leopold, Laperriere, and 1st-round pick for Vermette, Smith, and 2nd-round pick.

2 UFAs to be for 2 players under contract? No thanks.
I would do Laperriere and a 1st for Smith and a 2nd, though

Ummm, how does this help us at all? We already have quite a few shutdown defensemen that have no semblance of an offensive game, why would we trade our only two consistent offensive defensemen (improving ones with pretty good two-way games as well) for more of the same?

Not to mention we throw in a 1st round pick, which is a big no-no considering how we've played this year.

Way no from Colorado. Colorado loses its only too offensive D and get two defensive D. Then they'd be in the same situation Ottawa is in right now.

I would have to say a definite no from an Avs fan (just me, not all) point of view.
Lappy is a key part to our team, not too mention a fan favorite.
That being said, if Liles is involved in a trade we'd probably want something bigger in return. We need to keep our offensive D. (Or try and make a package to trade up to a better offensive D).
Personally I'd like to see Liles and Lappy stay for quite awhile.

I'm interested in what Av fans would think of this switch: instead of Phillips, Ottawa sends Volchenkov

Okay, we will assume all Sens fans feel the same way, to save on postings - I'm interested in what Avs fans would say to the switch

Two old defensemen and a guy who can't score to save his life for two puck moving defensemen and a heart and soul player. Not to mention the first pick involved, like you thought the trade wasn't in favor enough of Ottawa.

In your dreams.
