He might lead in points per icetime, but at 15 minutes a game it will be tough to outproduce Kovalev and lang who get 20 minutes.

That's pretty much what I was getting at.
Both players are just a better fit separated.

But even if he does, I was saying that if A.Kost wasn't playing the same way on the Kovalev line, it's stupid to blame Kovy for it.
It's just 2 players that shouldn't play together and that's it.

Just like it'd be stupid to make a Tanguay/Koivu/S.Kost line, seeing as they're our 3 playmakers. If we made that line and S.Kost wouldn't do too good and we then placed him on a new line with his bro where he'd do amazing, would we blame Koivu or Tanguay for the lack of success he was having?..I don't think so.
So why should it be Kovalev's fault if A.Kost wasn't working too good there?..
It's just 2 players that need to carry the puck a lot and are finishers. They don't match and that's it.
One line I couldn't stand during our first half scoring drought was the Latendresse-Lang-SKost line. There just wasn't enough speed. Lapierre and Kostopoulos really kickstarted Latendresse. And Lang and SKost suddenly look really good with AKost.

AK is physical. When he gets thrown off the puck he follows the player and lines them up and finishes his check.

Not really.

Just about everybody on the team plays better away from Kovalev. Tanguay did nothing on a line with him, Higgins, A Kostitsyn, and Koivu especially has never gelled with him. Hell even Plekanec looked like a free man when he played with Tanguay and Kostopoulos for a week or so.

Why? because Kovalev is unpredictable and plays like an individual. In his really good games, he'll make beautiful passes but most of the time he'll only pass when its his last option. He simply doesn't make those around him better.

Kovalev has good in and out of floating his entire career. It's a well known fact. The numbers show last year he was more physical and it translated into a great season.

Anyhow, all of this is moot. We're playing better than last season when everyone assumed Kovalev's excellent season was the main reason for our success.

So this points to the fact we are a great team because of Markov more than anybody else. That's really the only point I was making. Kovalev (and A Kost's) success are as support players

AK seems like he starts getting hot during the second half of the season. Didn't he break out last year around this time as well. He may just be a slow starter but strong finisher.

Thread should be titled:

Andrei Kostitsyn and Robert Lang are beasts.

See that play Lang made with 2 forecheckers coming at him? What patience. Bring back Lang.

And Andrei with another goal. Just awesome.

Right now he is scoring 1gpg and I remember last year he had a similar stretch run, when he made those beautiful dekes. What I love about him right now is that he's not even being fancy, just using his amazing shot to his advantage a la Ryder back in the day. And he's physical.

I think he will lead the Canadiens in goals at the end of the year, anywhere between 30-40 goals is my prediction.

Lots of praise for what was a weak goal allowed by Elliott, but Andrei is just on fire right now.
