There is no way Olli "Joke" Jokinen is on the top line. Mikko Koivu will be our best skater, and first line centre.

The high forechecking and the non-umbrella powerplay make it an exciting brand of hockey I'd rather watch Finland play than say Slovakia or Sweden.

Well, both Kovy and Semin tend to dissapear now and then, so yes, Morozov and one of Radulov/Zaripov/Mozyakin/Sushinsky/Yashin might quite well edge them out on the OT.

if Morozov was in the NHL, he would be a 90 point player for sure.

Mozyakin can score up to 40 goals having a great playmaker in the same line.

Hmmm.... I maybe mistaken now, from what I saw in the WCH in 08, Morozov would be dead if he played in the NHL. Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong guy...

Yeah right. I think he had his chance and scored 50 points max.

Who will play defense for the Russians? Gonchar, Volchenkov and Tyutin aren't exactly great compared to their forwards.

Gonchar is pretty wicked. There isn't a country that has a D that looks great compared to Russias offense....

You know the funny thing is he also scored 50 points in the RSL the following year but is now on pace for about 90.

All I remember about this kid is that he was warned twice about keeping his head up, and the third time, it was curtains.

I don't think it would translate to a bundle of points in the NHL.

Then again, maybe he learned his lesson?

lol, how is the pro mexican league doing? Does it still exist? I remember seeing footage of a fight in a game onetime where this guy rack up like 100 mins in one game or something around that number.

Pretty hard to predict a tournament like this, you could have more talented team and still lose, all you have to do is run into a team that works hard and has a hot goal tender. Up sets happen all the time here and I think thats what makes these tournaments exciting.

world cup 1996

So twice in the last 5 best on best tournaments. I have no idea why what draftspecialist said is shocking. Canada is 1 and Russia probably 2 but the other 5 countries are so close together that its a crapshoot. You can arrange the other 5 countries randomly and you still have a shot at getting it right. Any Finn, American, Czech, Slovak, or Swede fan who thinks their team is clearly head and shoulders better than the other 4 is crazy.

Before every tournament everyone goes ooooooooo look at Canada, and if they can get it together then yes they are easily no.1 but they rarely do, so my guess is that the gold medal goes to Russia and Sweden silver, Canada bronze Czeck fourth

Well any Swedish who thinks their team is head and shoulders better than US is thinking logically. Sweden will field a top team for sure. Good enough to easily compete with Canada and Russia on paper.

Agreed. The US team figures to have more firepower than 2006 but as usual the goaltending and defensive choices won't be very inspiring.

Russia, Canada, and Sweden have the most talent. Finland always gets the most out of their players. The other 3 big 7 teams have lots of reasons to be concerned.

Well finland doesnt have top talent as other big teams, but you can also ask when finland has had such talent?

Yet they always "surprise" everyone and end up high in the results.

These kind of tournaments arent based on NHL points or who has the biggest payroll. We have seen this before and will be seeing in the future!

My predictions

1) Canada
2) Russia
3) Finland
4) Sweden
Czech
USA
Slovakia
etc..

Now, here's some sanity, at last. Cheers!
Finland and Czech Republic is better than the U.S aswell. Yet, year after year people put the U.S among the favourites and after they get their ***** handed to them they immediately say it's becaus they choked. Like there ever was any real pressure on them to win anything?
