The Blue Jackets cannot trade him unless they offer him to everyone else that put in an unsuccessful waiver claim - and I'm pretty sure the Islanders would get a chance to claim him as well i that case.

So ... no - the Blue Jackets will not be trading him to the Islanders, unless Snow has a massive brain fart when Dubielewicz hits the waiver wire.

doesnt the waiver line start from worst team to best, i know the isles tried to sign him but them being the worst team, why didnt the have first crack at dubbi?

Quote from Bridgeport's website:

"After last night’s game against Hershey the players jumped on the bus and headed directly for Binghamton. The team bus did not arrive into Binghamton last night until around 2:45 a.m. After that, the gear was taken over to the rink and unpacked leaving several members of the Sound Tigers’ crew finally crawling into bed around 4 a.m. "

AHL starter Yann Danis basically gets no sleep, and has to commute three hours back to Long Island to play tonight.

I can't believe the backlash off of claiming Dublielajdfjlakdfj;

If anything we are helping the long term health of your franchise.

Just run with Garth Snow as your starter for a couple weeks. You'll get Tavaras for sure.

I chuckled when I saw this transaction . Back to Yann Danis for the Isles.

Like someone else said....

Why should we worry about the NYI's. This is PROFESSIONAL sports. It is LEGAL. We are trying to be the best team possible and get to the playoffs. The Reds did something (not as crappy to other teams like the NYI's think this is) like this last summer. They found a rule that would allow them to sign a top international player before the signing period. So, they did. It is business. Should the Reds have said.... Well, its not fair no one else knows about this, lets not sign him and just wait and see what happens. Plus, the nhl craps on us all the time, now its our turn to do some crapping .

What is the difference between that waiver claim and any other claim?

The jackets probably tried to sign him, but the Isle got to him first. Now they got him within the more than reasonable order of operations.

Jackets need a goalie and they got one.

Good thing I didn't drop MacDonald for Dubie on my fantasy team.

Yet.

Columbus may force the Islanders to give up a draft pick, eventually.

Isn't there a way for him to be traded but not have to deal with waivers to get to the NHL?

How did it work for Auld last season, when he went from San Antonio straight to Boston? Or did he actually clear waivers?

Why would they not claim him just because of the Islander's needs.

If they worried about everyone else's needs, they would never improve.

Taking the pencilled in starter for tonight's game from the last place team in the league to be your backup. Watch Nash or Filatov throw out their back picking up a cracker tonight. This has something bad happening to Columbus written all over it.

I agree with others that this won't sit well with other GMs.

Don't flatter yourselves

Pazzy is obviously going under the knife and will be out the rest of the season...based on this move.

I guess they were passed as they were the team that signed him originally.

Proof that Howson isn't afraid to make the moves that he thinks will help the team.

Islanders aren't going to waste a draft pick on him.

Columbus pretty much solidified Hedman/Tavres for the Isles. Atlanta and Toronto fans can't be happy

You know, I think this problem is easily resolved by Dubielewicz just telling Columbus to **** off and that he'd rather play in Russia then there. Columbus would then waive him (unless they wanted to be even bigger dicks and hold his rights) and NYI would likely be the only team interested in him.

Whatever happened it is their fault for not knowing the rules.

Unless Leclaire is out for the season or he's on the verge of being traded, this doesn't appear to make a lot of sense for the Jackets...
