...You WOULD have to convince him. He's happy with his family here in Philly and has what amounts to a nearly full NMC.
So if you wanted Danny boy in a trade, you'd have to convince him to go and play for you in Edmonton. He was simply stating the truth.
Also, there's the fact it's Canada. Higher taxes, and cold.
Average lows in °F for ya in Edmonton... Starting in October.... 33, 17, 7, 3, 8, 19, 31. That's more than half the year you better be packing a hoodie with a couple undershirts or something.
Philly in the same timeframe? 49, 40, 31, 25, 28, 35, 44, 55. Now, I don't know about Briere, but I loathe freezing cold weather, so there is no way in hell I'd waive my NMC to go to the great frozen north.
And overcrowded?! Hah. I guess that's what you call it when you aren't use to not being able to drive from skyscrapers to a farm in 15 minutes.
Go chill out for a little bit.
Actually, I seem to remember reading that Alberta has one of the lowest tax rates for NHL players in the entire league.
But that is beside the point.
This is a terrible deal that will never happen.. But generally 95% of the proposals made on these boards are similar. What I don't understand is how people still get so bent out of shape when there is a bad proposal made.
Why do we feel the need to piss all over each other in regards to something so small as a bad proposal?
Knuble is one of the most consistent players in the NHL. He's always going to get you 25-30, 30-35 goals and 50-60 points. And Upshall is like a worse version of that. Upshall is going to be a consistent 15-15-30, maybe 20-20-40 player. Both very useful as 2nd and 3rd line players, respectively.
Reddox is worthless. He's garbage and shouldn't be in the NHL. The Flyers already have two goalies they'd like to get rid of, they don't need a third. They definitely don't want Potulny back, and frankly, they don't need Schremp. Scoring isn't exactly an issue for them now, is it.
But let's say they see something in Schremp, however unlikely that may be. Even with Schremp, you're basically offering a 4th round pick, a player that they don't need and can't make your team no matter what he does, and a bunch of extra salary, for two solid role players, one only 25 years old, with expiring contracts as a UFA and an RFA.
Why in the world would the Flyers make this trade? Awful, awful, totally pointless proposal.
Pretty much. No point in this deal whatsoever from the Flyer's perspective.
dude if your reading comprehension is that bad maybe edmonton should be looking into thier school system. a trade would involve the franchise of edmonton and the franchise of philadelphia involving a player with a no movement clause. hence the referance to convincing said player to move.
you then went on to unjustly criticize the city of philadelphia and have now moved on to personal attacks. as if your clueless attitude about philadelphia wasnt bad enough; trying to insult people you dont know, and have never met, is just bad form.
and just for the record, i have an iq of 138 and while none of them super or canadian, ive dated models for mtv, various cosmetics companies and sports drinks as well as a few actresses. never do know who your talking to online, eh?
Oiler fan here and while surshot is acting like a tool (if you like your city what the hell does it matter what someone else thinks about it? plus he was referring to the NMC as previously stated)
Anyway with that all cleared up, that bolded part is one of the most pathetic things I've seen on the internet.
I've dated models for mtv and my IQ is 78987.....bragging on the internet haha unbelievable
