John Tortorella

That is my choice for coach. This team has been coddled since day one (publicly at least) This team needs a coach that will show the fan base at least a little public fire, call players out (by name), bag skate if needed, etc, etc, etc

I got the chance to watch Tortorella coach the Ft. Wayne Komets (IHL) while living there a few years ago. He wasn't there very long, but we as Komet fans enjoyed his short tenure. I remember the team playing very hard, and he didn't mince words. The only negative surrounding his team was a horrible power play that may have had more to do with lack of offensive talent (especially on the blueline). I would be all for it.

That would be quite a change. lol, from conservative, don't panic Trotz, to loud, obnoxious, lose-my-temper Tortorella. It's so crazy it just might work.

From what I have seen this year, this team is bar none the laziest team that Trotz has ever had (forward-wise) no one comes back for the puck to receive the outlet passes on the breakouts OR Power Play, its foulking ridiculous ... the problem is though (we can't trade away the players to play the kids without taking on ****ty contracts) so something has got to give, and I really wouldn't mind giving Tortorella full reign, and he has the ring to prove it, Trotz/Poile has yet to get any of their teams out of the First Round, ever

I love Torts' fire, but he has a reputation of playing musical goalies, and I'm not sure that's quite what we need right now with Rinne still developing.

A much more "Poile-esque" coach is Peter Laviolette, who also has a Ring and is the all-time winningest U.S. coach.

Personally, I wouldn't mind Freeman showing Trotz AND Poile the door and bringing in Ted Nolan to fill both roles. That man can get blood from a rock and turn it into apple cider.

Is Laviolette still available? I know he hasn't taken another NHL job anyway.

I am a moron. . .I confused John Tortorella with John Torchetti. My bad!

first part is a good. the last thing I want is someone (Freeman) who has ZERO hockey knowledge to be making these kind of risky moves.

however, Poile saying that Trotz's job is safe doesn't really seem like motivation for him to do better.

I wondered, is Trotz is being more laid back this year because he signed his first multi-year (2) deal this summer?

I'm ready for change as well, but IMO you are living in a dream world if you really think Trotz is fired this season or before next season.

Well yeah, that's easy to say now that Poile has flat out said so publically

big fan of Poile (made a lot of good picks; don't think it's his fault that Management wouldn't give him the $$$ to resign a few guys)- but i'd have to agree that it's time for a coaching change for Nashville - and I think Laviolette would be an excellent choice - very smart coach - watched him coach the Providence Bruins years back.

For those of you who wonder what we would see from Tortorella (and why Poile wouldn't touch him with a 10' pole), here's a little compilation of him at his best:

I loved that exchange with Larry Brooks
