Trade deadline rumors and discussion thread

Just read an article the Anaheim might move Pronger if they continue down the losing path.

? - If Briere cannot play this year would this make sense for the Flyers or would they go for more scorers.

You do realize what it would take to land Pronger.

JVR+

If Pronger would give us that little extra we need to bring home that big, shiny mug at the end of the season, I'd do JVR+. Yet strangely I'd still not do Paris Hilton.

this team + pronger = cup

Do it in a second. I'll take the cup this year with early playoff exits the next handfull. Not a problem. Or would you rather be the Eagles and go to 5 conf champioship games and no trophy.

Pronger + Kimmo = just as good as Pronger + Neids
And the rest of our D is as good as what the Ducks had when they won and our Forwards match up nicely to the Duck forwards of that year too.

The ducks would do this in a half a second IMO. They get parent, a dman back that should be a good 2nd pairing shut down guy, they get a potential star in JVR, they get a 3rd pairing D to shape their D and a first and 3rd in a very deep draft.

I honestly think JVR+parent would get it done.

It's my opinion that if you truly believe your team (any sport) is on the edge of winning that sports grand prize, then you do what you can to improve that chance. I'm not saying it's Pronger, J.Bo, or even Backstrom for that matter...but if you can GREATLY improve your chance to win now, then you do it.

Haha. Just saying if we do go for him, even with Briere not coming back for the season, we would need to get rid of salary. Then say we lose and not win the cup. We are pretty much screwed this offseason.

If Briere is on LTIR, we've got a fair bit of cap freed up haven't we?

Pronger is the Ducks. He is not going anywhere.

However, the asking price for him is still huge.

JVR + would prob get it done, but the trouble is not talent but cap.

Oh well, forgive me. I didn't realize that Pronger definitely meant a cup. In the future, if some of you can share your magical crystal ball with me, I could avoid stupid comments like my suggested "JVR + to get Pronger" wihtout realizing a cup would be the difference.

Getting Pronger doesn't mean a cup. Period. Anyone who says so is very foolish.

Yes, our team would be similar to the Ducks when they won, but look who they beat. Ottawa was crap. We'd have to play Chicago, SanJose or perhaps Detroit, not fricken Ottawa. We'd have to get past Boston or Washington too.

I'm sure some others hav said Crosby and Malkin = cup too and look. No cups.

The idea of Pronger playing on the Flyers back line is very very scary.

And also we are assuming JVR will be a franchise player. If your crystal ball has that answer tell me. Lets see. Trade away a player we hope will be good, for a player that is proven to be good. Your choice. We can keep riding prospects all we want, but the more we ride, the less of a chance we win a cup.

That would be foolish to say, "Id rather keep JVR then get Pronger".

If the opprotunity presented itself, Id love to see the Flyers try an aggresive more like this to try and win a Cup. Id HATE to see Parent go tho, but if getting Pronger means we can have that much of a better chance to win the cup Im all over that. Pronger's style fits the Flyers like a glove. Id go for it, **** it. I dont mind losing top prospects. Just thinking about pronger in a Flyers uniform has me excited. lol.

And that's just it. Not discounting JVR, I'm sure he'll be good...but when??? Pronger fills a void now and something this team desperately needs. That's just a fact. How do you land him with the cap issues, that's whole different story. Let's just simplify this, who helps the Flyers win the cup in the next two years more...

JVR, or a hypothetical Pronger?

For me, the answer is very easy.

Unless Anaheim goes on a horrible losing streak, I don't see why they would move Pronger.

It's nice to entertain the idea of Pronger in orange and black, though.

I think I'm an outsider here but I don't really want Pronger on the Flyers. I think he's a dick.

If there was no salary cap I would do JVR+ for Pronger in heartbeat.....Unfortunately there is a cap.

If you could move Briere I would be willing to do it if it meant we took that money and put it towards Pronger, however, we cant afford to give up any more forwards if you are giving up Briere and we still end up in the same boat where we are close to the cap.

The ducks are 2-6 in their last 8 including losses to LA, TB and NYI. The west playoff race is a brawl and the Ducks seem to be slipping badly.
