I thought they were unbreakable. I thought that those kind of PPG was impossible in today hockey. That all changed when I saw a 37 years old player, that have been away from the game for 3 years, that had cancer, score 2 PPG in the worst of the trap era.
It will take a wunderkid but it can be done.
This quote resume my thinking very well. Very unlikely... definitely possible.
The records will be hard to beat but somedays, a guy will come and "will have" more talent and the ones before him (gretz, Lemieux...) When is a question, Will he comes in a more defensive or offensive situation is another one, Will he have the same durability and so on.
I think his goal records will fall before his assist records (if ANYTHING is to fall). 50 in 39... I think that can be done if the game changes a bit, and a really special player has a really lucky season. Mario and Neely came fairly close, within sniffing distance. Hull isn't too far behind his career total. Not THAT close, but it's not a huge gap.
163 assists... THAT'S mind boggling. Even Gretzky never came close to that one, before or after he set it... his career assist total is also ridiculous.
