Offensively defentley Spezza, but Zetterberg is the better player overall.

Voted Zetterberg. It's been said, he's obviously the more complete player. They're offensive numbers are pretty comparable, so I gotta think if Zetterberg wanted to open up and take more risks he's got more offensive potential.

People can point to Spezza having better linemates (which holds somewhat true) but Spezza has never had Brian Rafalski or Nik Lidstrom behind him.

Which could have a HUGE impact on offensive numbers.

Zetterberg better offensively than Jason Spezza...I'm baffled.

Maybe because Zetterberg is the superior player too?

I'd take Zetterberg 10 times out of 10 vs Spezza.

What is the point of focusing on only one part of the game?

Zetterberg is better overall and one of the reasons Spezza might have the edge offensively is because of Zetterberg's complete game. This coming from a big Spezza fan.

So I guess unless you're asking "Who would you rather have as a PP specialist?", this is kind of pointless in my opinion.

How do you figure?

Z focus 50% on defence and 50% on offence and still gets morepoints than Spezza who's like 80/20 regarding offence vs defence.

Imagine if Z played in the same fashion.

Based on offense I would choose Zetterberg, but it's very close.

Really?

Spezza - 37 points
Zetterberg - 42 points

I'd take Hank over Spezza any day, Z is better at every aspect of the game.

Apparently you didn't. The thread asked who is better offensively.

And since were talking stats:

Spezza:
GP G A P +/-
NHL 366 134 248 382 +80

Zetterberg:

NHL 399 169 205 374 +117

Let's compare linemates aswell then

This year Z played most of his games with

player a having 32 points
player b having 32 points

while Spezza played most of his games with

player a having 43
player b having 40

We're talking about individual players, not who they play with.

How about bringing in their career as a whole? I'm pretty sure Zetterberg never scored 90pts in 67 games. I'm also sure he never scored 87pts in 68 games. Spezza is better offensively due to the fact Zetterberg focuses on both offense and defense.
