The Quiet Man

AKA GOD AKA THE ****ING MAN.

Quote:
"It's a great feeling," Markov said. "I want to thank our fans for their support because I know it's going to be fun. It's a great honor to be selected to play with the greatest players in the League. I was nervous last year but I had fun. I got comfortable there and I got some more confidence.

"It has been a great thing for me to play in Montreal. I have never played for another team in the NHL and I think that Montreal is the greatest city in North America. It has great history. It's a fun place to play but you can be a hero one day and then they think you're not so great on another day because they care about hockey here.

"You have to keep yourself in great shape and you have to stay very focused but when you step on the ice here, it's a great, great feeling. We have 21,000 fans rooting hard for us every night."

Great article, the comparison between Markov and Komisarek with Jay & Silent Bob made me laugh.

He is also currently on an 8 game point streak, which is nice. He's on pace for a career high in points.

I wish somebody would do a long sit down interview with Markov so that we can see what makes him tick, how he learned the game, etc...

Sounds like a truly outstanding individual blossoming in front of us here.

The Komi/Markov relationship is so .. storybook-like. Quiet guy who can do it all fears the world until he gets paired with an outgoing jock who crushes everything in both their paths

Brings a manly tear to my eye

Also, the quiet guy is a Russian raised by hard-line communists who long for the days of the USSR and the jock is the son of a Pole who fled communism for the sweet air of New York City.

I smell a movie. Or a sitcom.
