well that would be something if did happen, Lupul traded for Pronger for a second time.
Not that I would be in favor of it, but I am going to go out on a limb and say that a player traded twice for the same player hasnt happened alot in NHL history.

Agreed. Not only would they get Pronger, they keep him out of Boston, Washington, NJ...

I would do absolutely anything to get Pronger on the Flyers... He'd have to be signed for more than a year though. Jones, Lupul and JVR? Whatever it takes...

He'd make Carle look like an all-star player plus coburn would be back with Kimmo. Thats one scary top4 right there. Biron would have a new bestfriend.

Timmonen-Coburn
Pronger-Carle

Would be a sick top-4. I would split up Timmonen and Pronger more because I do nbot want Carle and Coburn together

THIS is hilarious

I understand he has a reputation as a "dirty" player, and I will admit that he throws some cheap elbows, and when he stomped kessel, but he is a great player

Dont underestimate the potential chemistry issue with losing Knuble....I think he is more important to this team than people realize.

I would actually try to get them to take Carle back in the trade and go with

Coburn Timonen
Pronger Vaananen

Not sure why people look at Pronger's dirtiness as a negative. That's exactly what we need on our blueline

we have the pieces to trade for him but how do we fit his $6.5MM salary under the cap ?

On a fun side not, Timmy P is reporting that Holmgren has contacted Forsberg's agent and inquired about his health. LET IT BEGIN.

It's good to have some of that but not too much. But I would love to add a d-man with a nasty edge

Next year:
Timmonen-Coburn- 1a
Pronger-Carle- 1b
Vannanen-Parent/Sbisa

Gagne-Richards-Knuble
JvR-Carter-Hartnell
Giroux-Briere-Upshall

So trade:
Lupul, Jones, Nodl, 1st
for
Pronger
????

I think its going to cost more than your talking about so far, though.
One thing I love about this organization is that they will do ANYTHING to win.

The Lindros mega-deal is proof. Did it work out? Unfortuneatly not, but they will make the moves they see as important.

Pronger is 34, so he won't command as much as you might think, but Knuble, Lupul, Jones, JVR, and picks would PROBABLY catch Anaheims interest. That being said, I FULLY REALIZE he will command a huge return, and I know at least one 1st rounder will belong to Anaheim if they trade Pronger.

Frankly, I'd love Lupul and Jones salary off the Flyers, while I like Lupul, he will be overpaid next year.

That would be awesome if we could send Lupul, 1st, + for Pronger. I'd really like to know if two players have been traded for each other twice in their careers.

How long is Prongers contract??

What about grabbing him in teh offseason- Lupul, Jones, Nodl, 1st

If we can grab him w/o giving up JvR or Giroux, I love Homer

people keep acting as if lupul's contract is going to be horrible next season ($4.25MM) but where are you going to find a forward that can score 30 goals, play on the PK, and is 25 y/o for less.

these are some of the players i would bunch lupul with...all have 30 goal potential and all are @ 28 y/o or younger -

horton, hartnell, penner, staal, gionta, justin williams, malone

they all make $3.5MM (gionta) to $4.5MM...i would horton is the best of the group and you could rank them however you like but none are lightyears better then any other in the group so i don't think teams are going to be afraid to take on lupul's contract if flyers decide to move him in the offseason because it will be market price.

When he actually does those things, you probably have a point. But even then, we have too many big money contracts among the forwards. It's not a terribly challenging concept. You can't have two-thirds of your cap devoted to your top 6 forwards. Other key players need contracts soon like goalies and Coburn, JVR has to be fit in for around $3M. Lupul just can't be on this team if we expect to have any depth or defense whatsoever.

I actually was gonna quote him and comment earlier but I really didnt feel like it. You pretty much summed it up. Ill add in a few things. Horton, Staal, Gionta, and Williams shouldnt be on that list. When Lupul gets as many points (who cares if he gets 30 goals, Knuble gets 30 f'ing goals) as those other guys did, Ill acknowledge his contract. But for being a POTENIAL 30 goal scorer, and plays the pk (which 90% of our team plays) he's at the moment not worth the money, plain and simple.
