with 'depth', but it doesn't address a team need.
True, but Peter can play the left side. There's a major argument for not bringing him back, but what position he plays isn't one of them.

And Briere can play wing too.

PS: How good is Foppa on faceoffs? I seem to remember him being decent. We could use a guy like that.

i guess you would send giroux back down because theres no sense in keeping the kid up here if hes going to get 5 minutes a night on the 4th line.
I would go with this

Gagne Richards Knuble/Lupul
Hartnell Carter Briere/Giroux
Upshall Forsberg Lupul/Knuble
Asham Metro Giroux

If Briere is back, Giroux gets sent back or plays on the 4th line. He hasnt done enough yet to take a spot over the majority of these guys.

Keep in mind I dont want Forsberg, I am just entertaining the idea for conversations sake

He hovered around 50% in his two years with us. Not great, but better than everyone except Richards.

I feel Briere is done for the season.

Plus, by then, we may have another injury. Either way, Giroux is 2 way, send him down, bring him back up if there is room in the top 9. Either way, get me Forsberg.

I laugh at the people putting out lines without him on the top line. Are you for real? when any team makes a splash on a free agent that has dominated the league previously, he goes to the top line. Foppa will not come here unless he does.

Agreed, I only see Forsberg coming here if he can play with Gagne. I'd love to have him but gotta be reaslistic

Remember when Gagne played on the third line with Metro?

That's all I meant when I said decent. He doesn't have to dominate, just not look like a fool like Carter and Metro do some nights.

if he wants to come and homer can make it work, it'll happen. i don't see how you can say no to a player as great and revered as foppa. regardless of the injury and the fact that he's past the prime, if we can get him without losing anyone significant (dumping jones, maybe metro) it's a gamble that worse case ends his career and best case brings us the cup. even if he comes back and gets hurt, it's not like he somehow rubs his **** foot on richie or carter and we're screwed...

The true test is if you saw "Foppa signs 1 year deal with the Flyers for 1 million", would you be happy or pissed? Ie a gut feeling. I would be happy.

What I dont get is why he is still "trying" to come back? If wants to come back then there should have been something fixed or changed. But if he istill not sure that what has changed?

Abso-freaking-lutely

All of you who are saying "No" I just don't understand.
I mean I understand that during "the season" we were absolutely CRAP with Forsberg out of the lineup, and the only reason we won some games was when he was in the lineup. But this team is MUCH different than that team. If Forsberg were to come to the team, he'd be possibly the 4th or 5th best player on the team, as opposed to our best player and captain.

Plus I would love to see The Dynamic Duo reunited:

Ahh the memories

PS: Please excuse the terrible soundtrack choice in the video...I don't think you coulda picked a more girly song to have in the background of a Forsberg-Gagne highlight video.

He wasnt the top line in Nashville or Colorado, why does he have to be here?

Honestly I would be indifferent to it....I certainly would not be upset, but it wouldnt really exite me either. I think the guy just needs to give up. Its a shame, he is still effective when he is on the ice.....He is just never on the ice...

Flyers as they are now are a playoff team.

Flyers with Forsberg are still a playoff team, but he is another weapon and he quite frankly makes the games more fun to watch.

From a purely entertainment standpoint, I say do it. I don't feel he can hurt the time, even if he misses a bunch of games. He isnt the best player, and he isnt the Captain. He could come here and just play and have a shot at ANOTHER Stanley Cup.

I say go for it.

I never saw him play live, and I want to. I honestly wouldn't be against it. If Homer can fit him in without losing anyone worth losing, I don't see the big deal. Worst thing that can happen is he goes down again. And when you compare to now, we're winning without him, so we go back to doing what we were doing before. He can only help us, and I can only imagine him in the playoffs if he's healthy. And while I'm on the health topic, he said he'll only come back if he's healthy enough and can do it, which leads me to believe that if he does, he's healthy.

My response was, "How Quickly?"

The source said, "Quicker than anyone thinks."

Things have gotten very odd tonight on the Forsberg rumor front. There were even some very erroneous rumours that Forsberg practiced with some of the Flyers today...a rumor that is currently Flying around the Spectrum as the Phantoms are playing.

I have been inundated with calls, texts and emails from the Spectrum tonight.

I asked the Flyers and was told that, "He is not practicing with us."

The fact eklund is reporting this makes me think there's even less of a chance Forsberg would come back. And to everyone posting lines, if Forsberg and Gagne are not on the same line, what's the point?

Well the Avs suck.

If he wanted to take a real low salary like Shanny they could definitely bring him in now and it wouldn't be that tough to fit Briere when he came back.
