ALL-star break deals?

well since everyteam will be enjoying their long-deserved break except for the players voted in to enjoy the all-star festivites. DO you guys think that there will be trades that could be in the works for some teams? and announced on the weekend or so?

It'd be nice if Toronto would move one of their more significant peices soon. Doubt it will happen though

Doubtful. Probably at least another couple weeks before trades start going down.

When was the last time a major trade went down at the ASG?In 1990,the Rangers traded Tony Granato and Tomas Sandstrom to LA for Bernie Nicholls who was playing in the ASG.He was traded to the Rangers the day before the game but played for the west.

Sandis Ozolinsh and Lance Ward were traded to Anaheim for Matt Cullen and Pavel Trnka at the all-star game in 2003

Yep. And Sandis, as an Eastern Conference All Star, skipped the Skills Competition before suiting up for the ASG in the West, IIRC.

I'm sure alot of talk and rumors will come out of the All Star week-end. I remember at one All Star skills competition they were reporting that Colorado had interest in Rob Blake and shortly there after, he was traded to the Avalanche.

Hopefully something cedible along those lines will come out of this week-end's festivities.

I doubt there will be any trades. Teams will wait until after it to make any trades. No point in making a trade because they sit on the roster without playing for a few days. If they wait until Tuesday, it's a less prorated cap hit.

I think it was the other way around - he took part in the skills competition and stuff, but didn't play in the game itself. Either way - that was pretty classless by Keenan, he didn't even have the guts to tell the news to Ozo, his assistant was the one, who delivered the news, I think.

true enough in the case of a rental, but if cap space isnt an issue or the cap hits being moved are similar teams may choose to pull the trigger during the break so the player has time to get to the city, become acquainted with the team's facilities and possibly get over the shock of being traded

Keenan wasn't the GM at that point, Rick Dudley was. That deal was horrible in every way: Ozo started to really decline after that trade, Cullen and Trnka were horrible for the Panthers, and Lance Ward's exit signaled in the Panther's movement toward team soft-serve. The deal saved the Panthers some cash, but was a good example of a lose-lose deal.
