Finally. If he's not playing here, get him playing somewhere else.
Good move by Homer IMO.

Interesting, should have been done after 9 games.

Good. Sitting in the pressbox is doing nothing for him. He should have been sent back a few weeks ago.

Lethbridge just got a late Christmas present - but the Flyers have screwed them over a bit. If they'd sent him back a few weeks ago, Lethbridge could have had a ton of options at the trade deadline (I'm assuming the WHL's has passed).

While it's a good move, it's long overdue. I give kudos for doing what's right, but I won't praise Homer for something that should have been done 3 months ago.

Does anybody know the rule about 40 games and losing a year towards free agency? Is it if he plays 40 games or if he's on the roster for 40 games?

Good move, I'm glad they finally sent him back. Get the kid some serious playing time and by next year he should come back ready. Thanks for all you did Luca.

Good move. He isnt doing anyone any good by sitting in the press box.

They should send Jones to the WHL too.

On the Active Roster for at least 40 games. So yes ... he now has one accrued season towards the 7 he'll need to be a UFA before the age of 27.

Yeah, Lethbridge is atop their division I believe. Looking at their standings is a chore though. I don't know what mathematical formula they use, under GP some teams apparently have only played 4 games.

So this article is wrong?

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/junio...ricanes_sbisa/
Quote:
Sbisa has played 38 games with the Flyers, two short of the mark that would trigger his eligibility for free agency when he turns 25. If the Flyers send him down he would have to wait another year, but he would be paid his NHL contract because he has played more than 10 games with the team. He will earn $875,000 this season.

Where are you looking? Lethbridge is 3rd in their division, 5th in the conference.

Aaah, so they did. I was just checking out their roster. They should be a lot of fun to watch and should make a serious run in the playoffs.

It's a move designed to do the exact opposite.

Either way it can kill his confidence. Telling the kid, even after he played around 40 games, sorry your going back down now, can be depressing. Either way its a confidence killer (letting him sit in the press box and sending him back down)

exactly, even though sitting him was definitely not a good thing, i personally felt he was progressing nicely with the flyers. I wish homer could've figured out a way to keep him on the roster instead of sending him down, since just like you said, this could be brutal in terms of development if it hurts his confidence.

I guess it's a double edged sword though.

then it was a necessary lesson. every player needs to realize that it's not about him, it's about the team. getting sent down doesn't mean you're bad, it's just that you're not the best thing for the team right now. the sooner he learns that (and he probably already knows this), the sooner he'll mature as a player.

the lucky goal against the Thrashers aside, he's played like garbage, imo, since coming back.... i shutter when he's on the ice, hoping we don't get scored on.....
