Doan was involved in 2 defamation suits, one by a Liberal MP after a francophone NHL linesman accused him of having made an anti-french **** on the ice towards a group of 4 french-canadian NHL officials. Here is an article about the story.
Shane Doan winning this in Montreal.....icing on the cake.
Is it me or the guy is just relieved by the fans reception...
I have to say I was wrong....really believed that the crowd would have booed our ex-players and Doan and they didn't really. Only the Bruins and even Chara got some nice cheers for his hardest shot win despite the crowd not really being into it.....
I don't know if it was mentioned, but at this morning's practice, Joel Bouchard interviewed Lecavalier and he asked the funniest / akward questions ever. The first was something like: "How does it feel to play in the Bell Center in front of such a big crowd?" and the other question was something like: "How special is it for you to play in Montreal?"
Lecavalier looked pretty uncomfortable, but he answered each questions in the most politically correct way, so nothing groundbreaking.
I think Price should have let someone else play in the young stars game because he looked like he didn't give two hoots about it when at the other end, the goalie was playing his heart out. I know he was hurt but he's in the main game so too bad they couldn't have found someone else.
As for the night as a whole, I put my expectations to high on the shootout thinking they would have some nice moves. Nobody looked like they cared really which is a shame for those people who spent the money to watch it.
there was a stupid habs fan 2 or 3 rows above us who couldnt stop saying stupid things to other fans... i felt bad for that guy with an orange jacket that the guy called youppi all night long...
there seemed to be some complete idiots around today!
i was at the red carpet event (which actually turned out to be not that great and very cold) and was stood next to a lady and her son. She was the rudest most arrogant lady I have experienced in Montreal. Everytime a player came by she shouted his name and pushed her sons Habs jersey towards them over other peoples heads. The worst part was when she was flapping the jersey so aggressively towards Crosby that one of the sleeves slapped him in the face. He remained professional and moved on. I was cringing to say the least. Some people go too far to get autographs and im sure she would have got a lot more if she had been polite.
also at the skills competition the people sat behind me were arguing after one guy asked another to sit down.
i wish i could say that these people were from out of province but they were all from Quebec!
i thought the skills comp was pretty good, better than years past, anyone remember some of the competition which had really confusing passing plays with like a 3 players alone on the goalie, and even the players got confused, hahaha... i would have liked to see the rapid fire, i like it cuz the goalies get shelled usually and get mad and then i laugh, lol... my favorite by far was the shootout, some really nice moves by doan, savard, and especially hejduk i thought was very crafty, and really happy for doan that he won, he played great
