Doan was involved in 2 defamation suits, one by a Liberal MP after a francophone NHL linesman accused him of having made an anti-french **** on the ice towards a group of 4 french-canadian NHL officials. Here is an article about the story.

During the process Doan was cleared, it was not him who had said it, but another player but a lot of people had already made up their minds.

The elimination shootout was the best event imo.

I agree, it's the only event that I actually stopped what I was doing and watched closely.

They should do some kind of passing accuracy event .. passes from different distances, angles and even some with an obstacle (to force them to make a pass off the ice I mean)

Did you guys notice that Ovechkin had his hat and glasses handed to him by Malkin?
I thought these two hated each other with a passion...I was surprised to see that.

With Yesterday's media frenzy over Lecavalier and his ovation today, do you think Gillett will be even more enticed to put more pressure on Gainey to make a trade?

I have to say I was wrong....really believed that the crowd would have booed our ex-players and Doan and they didn't really. Only the Bruins and even Chara got some nice cheers for his hardest shot win despite the crowd not really being into it.....
And Kaberle

Yeah, its the first time I've seen Carey Price where he seriously looked like he didn't care, he looked like he wasn't trying at all. I've seen him concentrate harder and try harder in practices.

I just think he didn't really care about the young stars game and you'll see him try harder tomorrow.

it was cool.

there was a stupid habs fan 2 or 3 rows above us who couldnt stop saying stupid things to other fans... i felt bad for that guy with an orange jacket that the guy called youppi all night long...

I cheered for every player tonight. even Kaberle, Chara, Thomas and Savard.

good show overall.

Malkin hit seven targets in eight shots
"I'm very happy," he said afterwards in halting English. "I'm not nervous. It's easy for me. I love Montreal."

I don't know if it was mentioned, but at this morning's practice, Joel Bouchard interviewed Lecavalier and he asked the funniest / akward questions ever. The first was something like: "How does it feel to play in the Bell Center in front of such a big crowd?" and the other question was something like: "How special is it for you to play in Montreal?"

Lecavalier looked pretty uncomfortable, but he answered each questions in the most politically correct way, so nothing groundbreaking.

I think Price should have let someone else play in the young stars game because he looked like he didn't give two hoots about it when at the other end, the goalie was playing his heart out. I know he was hurt but he's in the main game so too bad they couldn't have found someone else.

As for the night as a whole, I put my expectations to high on the shootout thinking they would have some nice moves. Nobody looked like they cared really which is a shame for those people who spent the money to watch it.

there seemed to be some complete idiots around today!

i was at the red carpet event (which actually turned out to be not that great and very cold) and was stood next to a lady and her son. She was the rudest most arrogant lady I have experienced in Montreal. Everytime a player came by she shouted his name and pushed her sons Habs jersey towards them over other peoples heads. The worst part was when she was flapping the jersey so aggressively towards Crosby that one of the sleeves slapped him in the face. He remained professional and moved on. I was cringing to say the least. Some people go too far to get autographs and im sure she would have got a lot more if she had been polite.

also at the skills competition the people sat behind me were arguing after one guy asked another to sit down.

i wish i could say that these people were from out of province but they were all from Quebec!

Maybe I have a short memory but I thought this was one of the better skills competitions in a while.

i thought the skills comp was pretty good, better than years past, anyone remember some of the competition which had really confusing passing plays with like a 3 players alone on the goalie, and even the players got confused, hahaha... i would have liked to see the rapid fire, i like it cuz the goalies get shelled usually and get mad and then i laugh, lol... my favorite by far was the shootout, some really nice moves by doan, savard, and especially hejduk i thought was very crafty, and really happy for doan that he won, he played great

i hated it.. shootouts lost their excitement ever since they were put in regular season games... especially when 90% of the breakaways were just plain shots. it got real old real fast to me.
