Hatch is the man, his play obviously wasn't anything to write home about last year but the dude is a warrior and would play through anything that didn't completely immobilize him. respectable.

Sorry guys, even if he was a leader and a big hitter, he was one of the slowest players I had ever seen. Also he couldnt pass a puck for shyt.

I for one would love to acquire him.If all we had to give up was a pick and player(Jones,Lupul, etc).I dont know how the cap would work out but im sure Holmgren could figure that out.The Sbisa screwup nonewithstanding

I'd give my left arm for Pronger, but I don't know how we'd make it work. He'd be the perfect fit for this team.

Pronger would require a huge return going to Anaheim, and honestly, the guy has a history of taking incredibly dumb penalties at the worst possible times. Looking at all that, I'd have to say no, although I do like his nastiness.

This is offered by Jim Matheson in the Edmonton Journal:

Trade bait

The Predators, who can't win because they can't score, should be on the phone offering up their No. 3 defenceman Dan Hamhuis, 26, for a winger. Maybe they should be going after Flyers' Joffrey Lupul, who is about Philly's sixth best forward and has 15 goals. Hamhuis isn't having a good year (minus-12), but he's in his fifth NHL season and plays 22 minutes a night in Nashville. He's a solid, two-way D-man.

I would do that in a second and it might actually be a good trade for both teams.

Hamhuis is signed at 2 mill through 09/10. So I dunno if we could keep him beyond then, but that gives us 2 years when we should be a Cup favorite.

Kimmo-Coburn
Vaananen-Carle
Jones-Alberts

Is a good defense.

Kimmo-Coburn
Hamhuis-Carle
Vaananen-Jones/Alberts

is a great defense and gives us more depth.

EDIT: I should add that while this trade definitely makes us thinner up front, we might be able to get Nashville to kick in a 3rd liner (Ward or Nichol) and I think Giroux is ready for a top-6 role.

Interesteing, but I'm not sure I like Hamhuis. At least right now. He's not the guy I'd be going after to solidify the d.

There is the recent history of transactions between the two teams. I am not sure if that factors into it but maybe it does.

Yeah true and we do tend to love our partners. Plus, this is really a deal that makes sense for both sides as far as I can see.

@ Sonny, I think Hamhuis is the type of guy who really just needs a change of scenery (like Carle).

I'm not a Stevens fan, but if you don't get on the ****list, then players seem to perform pretty well for him. I mean, Carle has been a huge, huge addition and I don't think it's a coincidence that we've been playing our best hockey since that deal.

This is the first time we've had 2 legit top-4 pairings since 2004, adding Hamhuis to that would make us even better.

Thinking about it like that makes it a little nicer, but when I went back and looked at the rest of the pairings I really liked it. Vaananen on the third pairing and Coburn with Timonen would be awesome. My only fear would be that Stevens might not sit Jones as much as he should given certain situations.

Yeah, seeing Jones on the PK constantly baffles me.

Timonen-Vaanonen
Coburn-Pronger
Hamhuis-Parent

Alberts
Sbisa

If only real life worked like NHL 09...

While I agree, I meant more that Jones would probably be playing a significant amount of games of Alberts. Now, I don't particularly care for Jones, but to me, with those pairings, I'd much prefer a little more badassery with Vaananen-Alberts than Vaananen-Jones. Just makes more sense I think.

The only problem with Vaananen-Alberts is that there's no passer on that pairing.

You mean Arnott who pretty much carries their team? We would need to add in a hell of a lot more if its just that...

I'm surprised Nashville will ever trade with us again after the Forsberg trade. As much as a I love Forsberg that trade was very lopsided. I'm glad we got Upshall, Hartnell, Klotz, Parent, and Timonen. I just Forsberg came back healthy...

I'd trade Lupul for Hamhuis without even thinking about it, 10 times out of 10. That gives you a permanent spot for Giroux, gives you an undeniable reason to trade Randy Jones...and then sign Forsberg if you want a little more offensive insurance for the playoffs.
