Thomas should challenge one of the Habs on his team, it'd make much more sense haha

Also, I'm getting sick of Devils fans making "jokes" on our threads, but if we do the same, it's automatically "trolling" and warrants verbal abuse. Mind you, I made a joke about NIGEL DAWES on the Devils board and got verbally attacked and infracted. Talk about ridiculous.

Don't let it bother you. They have at least 10 more years of hank to deal with while Uncle Daddy is more concerned with juggling doughnuts.

I gotta say, this kind of hockey sucks. Is this really what the casual fan wants?

More goals=bad. Cheapens the game. I dont know why people are obssesive over low scoring. Its more exciting

Are you using the all-star game as an example? Because if so thats a terrible comparison .

A 6-5 game in the NHL is usually pretty damn exciting.

Not an all-star game where nobody is even trying.

Congrats to Kovalev, but that little trinket is all he'll be raising in Montreal.

I disagree with you. A goal scored in todays NHL is meaningful. If scoring is made easier through bigger nets or whatever the NHL has thrown around it takes something that is special and makes it an easy feat.

Its like baseball moving the fences in. When the yards were huge (some were 500+ ft. at points) it made a homerun a special thing. Now we have shorter fences and average players are hitting more homeruns.

If you make a change to make scoring easier it just makes the game less exciting.

Agreed. I don't think the ASG game was boring because of all the goals, but I think the lack of defense and no hitting left much to be desired. Physicality is such a big part of hockey, the game is not the same without it.

Obviously I don't expect players to risk injury at the ASG, but I would have liked to see some more emotion and intensity. When St. Louis scored in the second period, he had a blank, emotionless stare on his face. The NHL needs to incentivize the players like MLB did with its ASG. I'm not sure if playing for home ice advantage is the answer, but I'm sure the players would be more invested in the game if it actually meant something.

The whole incentive thing is useless. Players are still not gonna risk injury. You still dont see guys doing take slides and diving like its a real game in the MLB even with incentive.

well, that was pretty boring. all skill, no one skating hard, no hitting, didnt seem like anyone really cared.

I was enjoying the 1983 all-star game they were replaying on the NHL network more. Those guys were nearly killing each other....almost like a playoff game.

That game was boring up until the last 3 or so minutes of regulation and OT. You've gotta appreciate Ovechkin's backcheck and the East killing that Penalty...

For an all-star game, that is kinda what I expect to see. I would have been nice if they had a quicker tempo. I think it was Carey Price who said the pace was a lot slower than normal games but I assume that allows for the fancy passing and crazy moves/plays you don't get in regular games. It's the one game you get to see that stuff. It is annoying though when a play gets broken up and then players give up on the play as it goes back into their zone. No back checking. Even more annoying than the 3 minute shifts these lines take. I feel like I'm getting gyped if they are skating 1 minute w/ acceptable energy and 2 minutes of lazy lagging not even half-@ss'd hockey. If they took 1 minute shifts I think you'd see some fresher legs and a better tempo game. I blame the coaches and players for that one. If the players knew they'd only have 1 minute to make something happen on the ice, they'd put more effort into each shift. I know a short shift makes me give it my all whereas a long shift, I cheap to conserve energy. Maybe it would be nice if they had a prize like goal/save/play of the game that gets fan text voting and a similar but not as substantial prize for the winner.
