solid...i like hearing that our top prospect was able to chip in at the AHL All-Star Game...now lets see him translate to the NHL within the next year or two..

AHL Live appears to be allowing access to the All-Star Classic archive for free... it could be a mistake, so it might not last, but for now it's letting me in without logging in.

You can see the game, skills competition, pre- and post- shows for both events, plus the Hall of Fame Luncheon and state of the league address. Anisimov's somewhat painful to watch interview (poor kid ) is about four and a half minutes into the Post Skills Competition show.

Go to http://www.ahllive.com/ and click the big "Watch Archive" button.

Nooiiiice. Those who doubt his ranking in the prospect pool really need to check these out - I didn't even look at the last link and I was left salivating. He is a first round talent NO QUESTION. (Thank you KHL for the transfer agreement nonsense.) He's huge, he's fast (skated around defensemen on two different highlights), he's a phenomenal passer (plays the point on the PP - check out the cross-ice, doorstep pass on one of the first goals) and has an absolutely wicked wrist shot (perhaps the most impressive highlight is the one where off a faceoff to the left of the goalie, he simply picks the puck out of the faceoff scrum, takes one step toward the center of the ice and rips one high blocker side). I honestly didn't see a weakness to his game.

And for those who are worried that he's just bigger and is getting by on size against kids, rather than genuine hockey talent, the most encouraging thing about each of these highlights is that not one of them is a bull-to-the-front-of-the-net type play. They are all highly skilled hockey plays (although he also shows an early awareness of how to use his body to shield players, which can only benefit at every level of the game).

Also, Dale and especially Kang are older players (apparently undrafted) that might be worth a flier with an AHL contract.

As much as I think those are great points and true assesments of his game.. I'm still one of those people who have reserves about him untill he steps into the AHL. Don't get me wrong, I'm really excited with the prospect of him playing on the Rangers. I think he has top six potential. And everyone is thinking about the prospect of him playing on a line with Anisimov and Zherdev(makes me think of the Penner-Horcuff-Hemsky line).

That's really a shame.. I was really looking forward to seeing him show off his talent without the pressure of a regular AHL game.
He didn't play because of the injury to his mouth.

Yeah, I figured as much at the time..I just assumed that because he played in the skills competition, he'd play the all-star game. I haven't gotten the chance to see him play all that much this year so I was disapointed.

Well one thing is for sure, that interview was PAINFUL. Artem seems like such a quiet guy. Let's hope that means he's very driven....

We need to clip this thread at some point and transfer it to another new thread. How far back should I go? All Star Break?

ASG it is.

Previous thread here: http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=602262

Use this thread for info, recaps and vids THROUGH the AHL All Star Classic. Post-ASG info picks up from post 1 in the new thread.
