Am I the only one

Who is worried about Mike Komisarek contract!? ...

We need to sign him ASAP , I dont know why Gainey didn't try to sign him this year. I know his politic of not discuss with players during the season, I think this politic is ridiculous.

I agree. This is becoming ridiculous. Komisarek's price is only going to be higher.

My hope is that they have an understanding, some kind of tacit agreement to sign after the playoffs

I remember hearing on Team 990, im really sorry i dont remember the finer details, but they said that Komiserik's agent represents like 8 or so NHL players. And all the ones who hit UFA, they tested the market. Im not sure what is happening but there is a chance that his agent is advising him to not take any contract unless it is a HUGE contract or test the market.

RFAs cannot be signed before the first of january (I think). So no need to worry for the past months. Gainey must sign him before the end fo the year though. If it works for Kenny Holland, it should work for Robert Gainey.

Agents don't decide. Players do. If Komi wants to be greedy, he knows he can forget Montreal. Simple as that. His price won,t get higher for the Habs. They will offer what they feel he is entitled to.

I'm not worried. Then again, I'm not the kinda guy who'll turn on the fire alarm when I see thin smoke coming out of the ovens in the cafeteria.

Im convinced a contract is already on the table and they have a secret verbal agreement until the playoffs end.. Will be the first one signed..

Gainey just doesnt want it to be a distraction since we have a couple of big UFAs at the end of the year..

Bob Gainey managed to wait until the end of the season before re-signing Markov, and at a very reasonable price. Everybody can agree that for what he brings, 5.75M$ is a bargain in this league. I'm not worried about it, when Gainey really wants to re-sign somebody, he manages to do it (Kovalev, Koivu, Markov).

STop that man!! Sound the alarms!! Send a SOS!!! Gainey isn't a pro, he doesn't know what he is doing!!!

Yeah, like you said, people should relax. I remember people fearing the same about Markov, that he'd leave or get overpayed.....

Komi is a UFA to be but he's not one yet, so if he signs before July 1st, he will have never been a UFA. I'm just being technical, hopefully we never hear the words Komisarek and UFA.

The season end in June, he has almost a month to negotiate a contract so I'm not too worried.

I believe Gainey said something along the lines of "If a player wants to sign, he'll do so during the offseason" - I have a feeling that I just dismantled that quote...

Regarless, I think Gainey is justy covering up his doing absolutely squat all day long. He obviously plays nothing but PS3 all day and every day.

Imagine if Komi plays a huge part in our upcoming playoffs success. That's gonna hurt. Is there a real defensive defenseman in the league making more than, say, 4.5M? Is Komi the best defensive defenseman in the league?

As a UFA there's likely a team who'd be willing to give him 6M, I guess.

If Komisarek feels he can have a huge playoffs and raise his value, why would he sign a contract now for less than what he could get in the future?

exactly, i love komi and all, but he should expect to get what volchenkov/ McKee makes. he doesnt really have much bargaining chip with his 5 points in 30 games. 4.5 seems right.

Or it the price could go lower like Plek and Higgins has this season. You win some, you lose some.
