Rules Interpretation

If you recevive a penalty with less than 2 minutes to go in regulation and your league goes straight to a shootout ( NO OT Period) Are you eligible to participate in the shootout?? I'm sure this varies league to league.

In the NHL the penalized player would still be able to participate in the shootout, yet another reason why the shootout sucks.

it varies for all of them.

I was in a league where they have a running clock (was 10 minutes) and you were eligble to shoot once your "time" had ran out. So if you got a 10 minute misconduct 2 minutes into OT, you wouldn't be available for SO until 7 minutes had past in SO.

USA hockey does not make game format decisions, the leagues do.

In the league I played in, You're not allowed to shoot.

If your penalty hasn't expired by the start of the shootout, like the thread was about.

Depends on the league. USA Hockey does have a shoot-out(NHL format) and in WNYAHL playoffs it follows the third OT period. A player who is assessed a 10 minute Major with less than 10 left in total play time before a shoot out is NOT eligible. The player is assessed a G.M. and ejected. In WNYAHL it can also earn you a bench slot for the next game or more depending.

I have a question... If Team A carries the puck back into their own zone while Team B is still in that zone should offsides be called if Team B touches the puck?

no, if team A brings the puck into their own zone while a player from team B is in team As defensive zone it is not an offside
