Besed off rumors: PHO, PHI

I'm not saying i would do this, but based off rumors Philly is interested in Derek Morris, and they could move Scottie Upshall, Joffrey Lupul, and Mike Knuble.

For the last time. Morris doesn't get moved unless the Yotes are way out of the playoff race AND there is no possibility that he is resigned.

As far as rumors go, he was merely listed with a few other guys who are UFA's this offseason. Not really a strong rumor.

This will never happen but this is the only way that I would trade Derek Morris to the Flyers.

To Philadelphia;
Derek Morris
1st round pick

To Phoenix:
Jeff Carter

I only say this because Phoenix sucks at faceoffs, and scoring isnt a bright spot either so this could cover both. Granted Carter is only 47 percent but i think his scoring can make up for that.

the flyers really dont have salary/talent to match. any combination i see is an obvious win for either team. the flyers making more then 4 mil are all essential to the run with the possible exception of briere. maybe knuble and jones? its just really hard to make fit.

Don't take this the wrong way, I do not want to part ways with Mo, this post was meant to see what we would get for him if this did happen.

It's hard to find a match here, but I'll take a shot at it:
Flyers: Morris and 3rd round in 09

Coyotes: Jones, Kukkonen and Nodl

The Yotes would take on about $300K in salary for the rest of the year.
For the Yotes, Jones would take Morris' role, Kukkonen would provide a little depth on the D for the playoffs and leave at season's end and the real gain would be Nodl.

Not sure why the Flyers would really need Morris, since they've got such a dearth of quality Dmen, but hey, you asked about the rumor.

Sorry but you Phoenix fans are lost. You have no clue who will or will not be moved. Given the pathetic financial situation of the Yotes and Morris and his contract situation, there probably is a very good possibility he will be moved. Playoff contention will not factor into that.

My guess is Parent has to be coming back in the deal from Philly. He's wasting his time in the minors. A deal of Parent and Lupul is more than fair. Personally, I think Morris is completely overrated.

Your description of Carter is a bit undervalued, so I guess I understand the trade proposal a bit more....a bit.

i think u might be on to something. morrs would be looke to play with timo so its vaananen instead of kukkonen. coburn and morris gives philly two big shots from the point. maybe have the 3rd rder come from the flyers and send philly a propsect.

to pheonix
vaananen
jones
nodl
3rd

to philly
morris
tikhonov

The Flyers aren't going to trade Vaananen and you said "send philly a prospect" and included one of Phx's best prospects. How could you possibly think that the Yotes would trade Tikhonov for that

the flyers would be trying to get grittier and put more snarl in the lineup. coburn doesnt come out which means its vaananen or alberts theyre replacing. vaananen and morris are comparable players and have been traded for each other before. vaananen and jones for morris is a loss for philly. so i added untill i found something to even out.

We are trying to get grittier so we trade arguably our best shutdown dman, who just so happens to have a cheap contract?

We'd be trading away something that we're already weak in. That's not even considering the other people in the trade...

Would love to see that happen from Phx's standpoint but that trade's never going to happen. Carter and Richards are the pillars of the Flyers franchise for the next 7-10 years. Morris is a UFA the Flyers can have for "free" if they just pony up the salary (which they can afford to do), keeping Carter in their stable.

Not nearly enough value going to Phx for Morris and Tik.

flyers lineup would be

timo morris
carl coburn
sbisa alberts

i think that has more grit and is a better all around defense core. its a case of giving to get. not to mention that if you do trade for morris what do you do with him?

its vaananen and a 3rd for morris with a huge acquisition of salary to a team that cant take it and then jones and nodl for a late blooming prospect. could you please adjust the value as you see it cuz i dont think im far off.

Jeff Carter sucks at faceoffs. He should be a winger, and he'd be even more deadly if he was.

Another team would have to be involved. The Flyers need to cut payroll eventually and the Coyotes can't take on any until they find another investor. They need to make the playoffs, so it's unlikely they are sellers at the deadline...

Even though I doubt a trade will happen...

how about
Reinprecht, Winnick, Morris, and a conditional pick

4

Lupul, Jones, and Vaananen

salary wise it's about the same and the conditional pick is for the 2 UFA's
