Of course we can freakin beat washington we beat boston and barely lost to both detroit and san jose.
I gotta disagree. Sounds to me like someone was confused by the fact that some people are treating the Caps like some kind of juggernaut. Yeah, we've had a couple of tough losses against them, but they are eminently beatable.

Yeah thats usually par for the course in Washington.

Funny how we havent seen many goals off the defensmen this year as last. Probably because the defensmen arent at the top of the crease as much taking care of business.

Don't laugh, its probably true.

4-5-3 - 11 Points out of a possible 24:

giving them 60 points going into February with a record of:

27-18-6 = .529% - should put them right around the 6-7 spot.

Thats still 9 games over .500 in a losing month. So a good target would be to hit 5 -7 wins or any combination of 14 points and they would still be in good shape.
So lets revisit this thread halfway through and see how we are all doing...

Jan 3 |@WAS - 2-1 Loss
Jan 5 |PIT - 4-0 Win
Jan 7 |MON - 6-3 Loss
Jan 9 |@BUF - 2-1 SOL
Jan 10 |@OTT - 2-0 Win
Jan 13 |@NYI - 2-1 Win
Jan 16 |@CHI -
Jan 18 |@PIT -
Jan 20 |ANA -
Jan 27 |CAR -
Jan 28 |@PIT -
Jan 31 |@BOS -

I predicted 6 points (2-2-2) up to this point and they've gotten 7 (3-2-1).

I predicted 2-3-1 the rest of January for 5 points

I could see us putting a nice streak together and taking the next 4 easily if we can keep up the good effort. Boston will be a tough one, but we could possibly win out the rest of January.

I do not care if I am wrong predicting if The Rangers win or lose
Very simple - Prove me wrong by winning as much as possible and we all win. Less negative threads but wtf we can live with that - can we not?

PS - I want you all to know that I tried to pay off the refs last night in order to win the Predict January competition here on HF Boards but to no avail. They did a comendable job trying to fullfill my predictions but that darned Swede kept getting in the way and blocking the shots. So they get no money from me this time around. Sorry HasbeenFrass. Maybe next time I will sucede in the firm spirit of Al Capone...

I predicted 9 points (3-3-3) up to this point and they've gotten 11 (5-3-1).

I said any combination of 14 points would be a good month. They need 3 points to hit that target in 3 games, definitely doable.
They gotta beat Carolina considering they suck in Pittsburgh and on a back to back, and then they have to deal with Bruins...

If anyones interested...

I figured out that the Flyers have at least one game in hand (most of the time 2 or 3) on the Rangers all the way until the last day of the season when they play the Rangers head to head.

The Devils finally catch up on the 30th of this month and then they have a game or two in hand all the way to mid February, then even, and then a game in hand through most of March until they catch up in April. On the last day of the season the Rangers actually for once have a game in hand on them. But its for one day.

So these three teams will never have the same amount of games played until the very last day of the season, the 12th of April.

If the Rangers have any aspirations of winning the division, they'll have to keep a 2-4 point buffer from here on out between these teams. Especially the Flyers. Gonna be a tough task.

Ok, I predicted 11 points (4-3-3) up to this point and they've gotten 13 (6-3-1).

I said any combination of 14 points would be a very good month. They need 1 point to hit that target in 2 games, not bad, not bad at all.

Big win last night considering they suck in Pittsburgh and on a back to back, and then they have to deal with Bruins... but, i think if they can split these two and finish out the month 7-4-1, you gotta be happy considering the opponents they faced.

I don't think I'm going out on a limb to say that Philly, NJ, and NYR are going to stay within a couple points of each other and who ends up on top is going to be largely determined by how they play each other from here to the end of the season.
