Reading 101: "useless unless he is scoring."

He is scoring this year and doing quite well. That doesn't make him a quality penalty killer.

And his +/- is a product of his team, in my estimation. I didn't notice any particular growth in his backchecking abilities in the few Habs/Bruins games I've seen.

i like Tomplex.
to be honest i was suprised that he put up so many points last year.
maybe it was a fluke, but nonetheless were looking at a good hockey player. he has a great set of wheels along with above average hockey sense. i think maybe we are relying on him too much for goals. he is not a sniper. he is not a strong guy per say, but he can still get involved physically. he complements a wide variety of play styles, and his defensive polish is underused by coach Guy atm, imo.

hes in a big funk right now, but hes a smart player with good instincts. if he keeps working, he still has time to turn things around.

he was in a similar funk last year until the end of fall. he was demoted to the 4th line to play in a defensive role, after which he regained his "game" and started producing on a consistent basis.

maybe Guy should try him in a solely defensive role, because imho that is his strength. maybe he can find his confidence this way.

dont throw the towel just yet bois.

Would you guys trade him along with a prospect and a 4th liner for a Fischer/Neil combo?

I would never under any circumstances take Fischer and his ridiculous contract on my team.

The last thing we need is MORE average freaking players.

The problem I see in Montreal is that the skill level between Unit #1 and Unit #4 isn't that much different. The old Lafleur line about four 4th lines isn't that far off. I'd say we have Kovalev and four 2nd lines

The team should package a couple guys for one upgrade (Lecavalier, Kovalchuck, Gaborik, etc.) rather than trade one of our guys for a couple similar people.

That said, I do like Neil, but given we're locked into Laraque, I do not see the point.

It's nothing against Plekanec and Higgins, I just think they're the logical two to try and package if we want to bring in one star player.

If we can upgrade in the centre position, I wouldn't mind trading Pleky. That said, a lot of players have these bad seasons in their career which is usually followed by a very good one. I believe Plekanec has it in him to bounce back. On the bright side, he can't possibly ask for Derek Roy money now.

Pleky is probably kicking himself right now because he is rumored to have turned down a multi year extension on his contract past the mid way mark last year. No way that offer still stands as high right now as it was then, unless he starts tearing it up and has an unbelievable post season.

once Tanguay returns, I will try him at center.

Max Pac - Tanguay - Kovalev

Higgins - Koivu - Dago

Lats - Lang - Ak-46

Kosto - Lapy - Laraque/Begin

Bench/Trade for D Sergei and Plecks +

He is working his butt off and on a very potent line.Thats the reason. As for Plekanec.he ia a very skilled player who for some reason has taken the turn of slump. It happens.

Plekanec just needs a sport therapist to figure out why he won't get his nose dirty and drive to the net anymore.

That or having Laraque beat him up until he finally goes in front of the net. Either way.. he needs to stop mimicking Zednik and act like a man.

I d like to see Pleky switched with Lang for a game or 2 just to see if that helps ?
#67 could benefit from this as well.

Not at all, just saying might take a while before Plekanec stops playing "like a girl"...

We could trade with Dallas Pleks and Obyrne and a draft or other prospect for Ribs and Robieda It would be like a classic habs reunion

Plekanec is not playing well at all and we all know it but the best news is that he knows it as well. This guy is so critical of himself and he knwos what he has to do to get back on track. He will turn it around.

Defense should be the priority IMO. That big center wont prevent dumb defensive mistakes that keep sinking this team game after game.

If we trade Plekanec, i hope we get a top 2 D.
