GDT: Game 46: vs Atlanta, 1/27

If Dallas wins Thursday it will be a huge victory. Pretty much everything is against them.

Dallas will not see a lackadaisical Detroit team again. The Red Wings were embarrassed the last game because of poor effort and allowing the most shots by a wings team in 2 decades. Detroit will be looking to crush the Stars. Add to that the fact that Turco still has not won a regular season game in the Joe. This could be the hardest game of the season yet.

I say if the team has the "Crown Royal Bags" to win, they'll make the playoffs. On the other hand, I'm not saying they miss the playoffs if the lose. I just believe that if a team can win this kind of game, they should easily make the playoffs with the position the Stars are in.

I don't have the dedication of Caseman so castration is out of the picture, but I'll whack myself with a bat in the babymaker if the Stars win in Detroit but don't make the playoffs.

If Dallas plays like they did last night they can keep it close against Detroit, I would say the best chance to win rests with the PP having a really good night.. all I'll be looking for is a good effort from the Stars. It sucks that we'll probably lose ground after that game, but atleast then we're done with Detroit for the season.

**also: too bad Brunnstrom couldn't be back for that game - we'd be operating at full swede power then

Despite the improvement on dallas' play im really not looking forward to the red wings game for the following reasons..

1) they are coming of a loss---> highly motivated...
2) Datsyuk and Lidstrom will be in "send a message to the NHL" mode----> highly scary
3) Zetterberg has no contract pressure any more----> high tension released (i think it was playing on his mind)
4) they allowed a hat trick yesterday ----More motivation...

I have a bad feeling they will take all this out on Dallas...especially Datsyuk..and we have no answer for Pavel...

I hope im wrong, but i thin the wings will be breathing fire...we need every bounce to go our way or we could be in trouble

(and im not usually that pessimistic..)

i know that ott-ribs-lehtinen will be together, but we really need a checking line against Detroit top line and they have to hold if we are to have any hope...I was thinking somethin like

Lundqvist-Sutherby-Peterson

VS

Holmstrom-Datsyuk-Hossa

then let our other guys get some pts...

Lundy and Toby were 2 of 3 guys (eriksson) who had good success against the Datsyuk line in last years WCF's...maybe its worth trying them again...

Usually players stop performing as well before a contract extension comes.

Either way, Zetterberg is out tomorrow so don't have to worry bout him.

Well I don't think the Stars are planning on using Petersen as the checking line center. If they are, Barch will have to be replaced.
