Chris Neil on the block?

with Chris Neil scheduled to be UFA on July 1st, despite what Melnyk said, Ottawa may be looking to ship him out. Any ideas where he might land?

Neil will get a 1st and a solid prospect at the deadline, and anyone who says otherwise is a blind Sens hater!

How many players not named Hossa or Campbell fetched anything near that at the deadline last year?

Maybe Boston? If they trade Fernandez and replace him with Saborin in a 3 way trade that would open up a ton of cap space.

In turn Ottawa could trade them Kuba+Neil for their 1st and a good prospect.

if neil gets dealt with kuba, there's no doubt that can bring back a 1st rounder and maybe an ok prospect.

The sens hate on HF is getting ridiculous... even sens fans are jumping on to the bandwagon of hate.

I don't think they need Neil when they have Lucic...

Kuba for Lashoff would be sweet though.

I've always liked him. He's an effective grinder type that's hard to play against, but he's not worth a whole lot, a mid to late round draft pick at best.

You don't have to be a Sens hater (I'm not) to realize that Neil won't return you a 1st rounder.

He'd be a good fit for a lot of teams. He has some experience and is good enough to play on a 3rd line sparingly.

Value-wise, it should cost at least a 2nd to acquire him. I could see a few suitors upping the ante as the deadline approaches. Ott could get a decent prospect instead.

What would the Sens be wanting back.

Neil to the Jackets for Brassard.

Seriously, he'll be very valuable to a playoff team, he could fetch us a 2nd MAX.

I still think the best route would be to package him and Kuba together at the deadline to increase the return. Those 2 together would be a great package for a team heading to the post season.

Neil has more value to the Sens than he could fetch us at the deadline, though I may consider Getzlaf for Neil so long as Anaheim trades us Ryan as well.

A team just down the road should be interested in that package...

maybe something realistic would be:

Subban
Higgins
--Sens get youth and serviceable secondary scoring (although that's getting debatable)

Neil
Kuba
--Habs get grit and top-4

I'd consider that. Add picks for tinkering

Neil for Getzlaf AND Bobby Ryan?...never gonna happen cause neil's not worth Getzlaf alone...maybe he'd get Travis Moen and a 3rd rounder...

I'm hoping the demand heats up as the trade deadline approaches, and some GM desperate for some playoff experience (74 games) and toughness overpays for Neil. I'd be happy with a second round pick from a contender.

It would be a terrible move for Ottawa IMO.

Neil means more to Ottawa than they will ever get back for him.

He is one of the best hitters in the league, and one of the best enforcers (in that he can fight anyone and actually eat up some minutes).

He has tons of playoff experience and has shown that he can contribute offensively in the past (for gods sake use him on the PP in front of the net! It always works!).

On top of all this, he is one of the few players who has looked like he actually gives a **** this year. He leaves it all on the ice...every shift...every game. Why would you want that attitude out of your lockerroom? If anything, Ottawa needs that attitude to spread.

Too bad a few more players dont have this philosophy....we would be a much better team.

Deal from Bostons end.

No need for Neil... At all. I'd rather give Bitz, St Pierre, Karsums a chance over him.

Kuba and Neil wont get you a 1st+good prospect. At least, not from Boston.

Neil and Kuba would be great additions to any playoff team but they're both UFAs. No chance they get a top-six roster player and one of the Habs' best prospects. A first and a lower-end prospect would be more reasonable I think.
