so what is Fritsche's deal? He sounds like he's got some potential, but he can't get into the lineup?

See that I new he wasn't worthless. Best of luck in Minny Danny. I actually think he'll play pretty well for them. Maybe become a respectable 3rd liner. on a 3rd line or so.

It's going to be hard to say. Ranger fans didn't see enough of him and Columbus fans probably had too high of expectations for him, he being from Ohio and all.

Rangers have insane depth on the 3rd and 4th lines (if only I could say something like that about the 1st 2). He's not bad or anything, but he's just a victim of numbers. He's definitely an NHL player with a good 2-way game.

I don't know a damn thing about Reitz. I understand he's a depth defenseman, which is something the Rangers need (we only had 6 defensemen on the roster). What I'm waiting to see is if he's going to be the 7th man or if Kalinin is.

He's visor fighter. Drives me nuts. He actually plays a decently physical game, has fought more than a handful of decently tough guys this year (Clowe, Asham), but he wears a shield. I have nothing against guys wearing a visor, but I can't stand guys that are in your face, on the edge type guys, wearing one.

Good luck with Fritsche. He has to learn how to skate and shoot better. Everytime he's receive a pass, he'd fall. His shot is pretty ****** too. He will fit great in Minny though because according to CLB fans, he was money on the PK, a Minny favorite.

So because he wants to protect his eyes he shouldn't play an edgy style?

Not a bad deal for either team.

But now, what will the posters on the trade board come up with to get the Rangers involved in proposals.

Is it now just Dawes, Prucha, Kalinin? Or are we getting somebody to replace Fritsche?

Reitz, already in his mid-20s, is a physical, defensive defensemen who has a pretty decent shot. His footwork is below average, but he's generally in good position.

He had a break-out year in the AHL last season, but this year he was stuck behind 6 good Dman every night. He still needs a lot of work at the NHL level, but he can turn into a reliable bottom pairing guy with time.

He's also willing to throw down.

Yipee!

Foster, before he had his leg broke, almost lost an eye due to a slap-shot. Now, most players on the Wild are encouraged to wear visors, especially the rookies.

Rangers are looking for D, this is more a depth move not a real answer to their needs.

In regards to Fritsche though I believe the Wild got a good one here, he is totally the mold of a Wild type player. Lemaire will have him play his style of game in Minnesota and he'll fit in and fill a role they need.

Minnesota got a good one for a salary dump.

Rangers pretty much got off the hook for half the salary if he got picked up on the next waiver.

No. There you go. Ask the 6 guys he fought this year what they thought. None of them had a visor on.

I have no problem with guys wearing visors, in fact, I wouldn't mind seeing the league mandate that all players wear a 1/2 shield. But they don't, and currently, there is still a bit of a taboo within the league of guys playing on the edge like Reitz does, fighting on a semi-regular basis, and refusing to take the shield off. I didn't create it the taboo but it exists.

Yeah, I get that. In fact, I split Wild season tix with a few guys so I've watched Reitz play quite a bit. But the Wild have three guys with 5 or more fights: Boogard, Weller, and Reitz...You think either of those other two guys is throwing a visor on?

Until they are mandated league wide, there will always be a culture and a code that exists amongsts guys who play the style that Reitz plays and wear shields.

Yea this is a spare F for a spare Dman..........not bad for either team at all........Fritsche should get a chance now and he can provide energy...........nice team for him, good luck

As for Reitz he is a big dude and gives depth on D. I hope he can turn into the 6th Dman.............bench Kalinin and send a message now

I'm glad we got something for Reitz, he was sitting in the press box nearly every game as of late, and when he was out there i wasn't terribly confident in him.

I agree. Good risk to take for Minny. Fritsche might end up being a bust, but he's still a kid and has some potential. I'm sure he's benefit from Lemaire's wide open style

I think Fritsche will do very well with the Wild. The coach will make him better.

So Reitz spent 6 years in the minors, the day he finally makes it, he gets trade for a guy that was waived the day before...

Good way to reward hard work!
