Pitt says a big no. Though they are extremely tempted by the 3rd rder

It took until post #4 to spell Jordan's last name 'Stall'! Well done everyone!

Honestly though I've never heard of Taylor Chorney and Theo Peckham, what positions do those two play?

Actually his name is spelt Staal. Not Stall.

Chorney and Peckham are both D, Chorney is more of an offensive player compared to Rafalski, Peckham is more of a solid, defensive defenceman, tough kid.

Actually that's a rip off for the Pens, Oiler fans can try to convince themselves that quanity is better than quality all they want if thats what makes them feel better. Cole is on the last few years of his career, likely 2-3 maybe 4 more years left. In 3-4 years, Staal will establish himself as a defensive powerhouse that can put up 25+ goals a year...at 24yrs old.

Yeah, major pass from the Pens.

I would if we resigned Cole - Peckham - Cogliano. You keep Nilsson, Pouliot, and or 3rd.

Staal has been fantastic lately. I would hate to see him develop on another team.

The first one was silly, I admit, but this one is just plain terrible...A signed Cole, with Peckham AND Cogliano for Staal??A big no. I wouldn't trade Cogliano straight across for the 3rd line center..well, 2nd on the Oil.

Well Staal is the best player involved. Cole isn't that valuable he's old, injuries in his past, and having a bad season, plus he is a UFA. Cogliano has no where near Staal's upside. He brought Peckham into it. I'm not saying Edmonton would but this is what I would be asking for if I was the Pens.

No, not anywhere close I love the "upside", and "potential" arguments....I have a $2 lottery ticket that has the potential to be worth millions...But I'll sell it to you for $100.

Staal is the 3rd best player involved. Cole is better he's just not signed. Cogliano is better any way you want to look at it.

I'd do the original, and if the Pens could sign Cole, he'd be a fantastic compliment to Sid or Malkin. The Pens are known to like Pouliot from his WBS Pens days, and then there is the fact that he and Sid are friends and played well together. They'd probably want Chorney, which would suck to give up, but our top 4 is currently good and we'd still have Petry.

But no way would I deal Cogs straight up for J. Staal. Cogs has been one of our only bright lights this season outside of Hemmer and our top 4. J Staal will likely be a regular Selke candidate but I'll take a future Parise over that any day of the week.

lets not get carried away.. size ? PK? faceoff% ?
Cogliano is faster but age, role in respective clubs and offense is about the same.

With Gagner and Nilsson already around and Eberly and Omark etc on the way an upgrade in size would not be a bad thing.. Staal does everything Cogliano can do.

edit: as for the OP , I dont think PIT really needs\wants a Chorney or a 3rd rounder from EDM..

Cole for playoffs, Pouliot for depth and 2nd would IMO be fair for Staal.

i don't get this statement at all, just because you don't recognize a name you assume they're garbage. Taylor Chorney was captain of team USA at the world juniors 2 years ago, and by all accounts, is expected to be a very good number 2-3 defenseman at the pro level. Theo Peckam is freakin wrecking machine. he's big, tough and plays a very good shut-down role. honestly, if i were oilers managment i'd wanna hang on to these two to see if they live up to potential.

so, just because you don't recognize a name, do some research before you automatically decied that those players are "a bunch of crap".

Here's a decent proposal:

To BFI: the EDM package offered in this thread

To OP: a clue

its is a load of crap to the Pens, we are set at defense though Peckam would hold value as he is different to the other guys we have.If Staal is going to be traded it is for someone of a similar level not a couple of guys at lower level.SCORING WINGERS are what the Pens need!I think the crap response was due to the OP not taking into account the Pens needs.

that's true, it's just a pet peeve of mine when people assume that a player is crap, soley because they've never heard of that player.

oh well whatever, welcome to the world of message boards.
