Montreal Needs A Defencemen

Montreal now is on a 4 game losing streak and there powerplay is still lousy so Montreal needs a few shake ups in their roster they need a defencemen that can be there powerplay QB so Montreal should be looking at aquireing the likes of Jay Bouwmeister/ Thomas Kaberle/ Pavel Kubina/ Marik Zidlicky/ Kimmo Timmonen, etc

Make your offer to get Montreal a defencemen?

What's wrong with Markov? Kubina is an option, but getting one of those other guys isn't realistic (especially not Timonen).

Leopold for a 2nd. He's cheap and very serviceable.

Habs need a ton more than a top 4 D. Their top 9 are quite soft and for the most part skilled, finesse/perimter players.

Until they bang then net consistently and go into the tough areas WHILE winning those battles, they are soft and will continue to struggle versus teams that play physical.

There was already some discussion of Zidlicky+ for Higgins+, but I think that is much less likely now.

The Wild definitely could use another scorer, but I am willing to bet that we trade a goalie instead of a Dman. Our D corp is very, very strong as a unit, so we probably don't want to change that. Our goalie situation, however, is a little murky, since we should really only sign one of Backstrom or Harding.

My guess is that the Wild will package Harding/Backstrom with Pouliot for a top-6 winger and a back-up goaltender instead of trading Zidlicky at this point.

I don't agree. This knock on the habs being soft is overdone. When their passing and set plays are working, they look unstoppable, regardless of how the other team is hitting. They're just in a funk right now, and look awfully disjointed because of it.

That said, Kubina would be a good fit.

O'Byrne, Maxwell, + 2nd for Kubina

Why the hell would we want Dominic Moore...?? We have too many 3rd and 4th liners as it is..

It ends up being Higgins + Pleks + Gorges + a first for Kaberle?? Ummmm...how about a giant NO.

Besides...Kubina will cost less is way tougher and would address our needs more then Kaberle.

I don't think Burke would be excited about Higgins or Plekanec. I like them, but they aren't really the sort of players he's traded for in the past.

Get Streit back. Overpayment required, but that's karma. Like with Huet. Letting him go was moronic of Gainey.

Streit for Higgins, Gorges, and a 1st (or Subban if Snow takes a liking to him, though most likely Subban> 20+ first round pick). Could be the difference between a conference final and 1st round playoff exit (which at this point seems very likely).

I said this for several weeks at the start of the season, but they won't listen. Montreal already has a #1 d-man in Markov who also happens to be the PP QB. They need a #3-4 defenceman like Leopold who is UFA at the end of the season I believe.

If the Canucks’ downfall continues, Mattias Ohlund will likely be traded.

To Vancouver:
Kyle Chipchura
Max Pacioretty

To Montreal:
Mattias Ohlund
Mason Raymond
2nd round pick

What do you guys think?

As an aspiring canuck fan dig the second proposal. Add a 3rd going to canucks and you've got a deal.

I dunno if that is a joke, but Montreal is giving up the best d-man, the best forward, and the best prospect in this proposal

No i rather prefer

To the Nucks
Chipchura
Higgins
Plekanec
O'Byrne
Gorges

To the Habs
Hodgson
the Sedin twins
Bieksa
Ohlund

Seems to be a much more well balance trade which i could see both G.M and fans wanting to see done.

Overpayment by Vancouver.

Pac and Raymond are a wash. No way is Chip = Ohlund and a 2nd round pick. If antyhing Montreal adds a prospect plus a nice pick while Canucks take out their pick to balance it.

How is that an overpayment? You're trading spare parts for the third leading scorer in the league on the blue line, and the unquestioned brightest spot for the Isles this year. That proposal barely gets you Brendan Witt, let alone a top 5 offensive defenseman this year.

Would this make any sense if Bouwmeester isn't signed by the trade deadline and it doesn't look like they'll make the playoffs?

To Florida :

Roman Hamrlik
Chris Higgins
Mathieu Carle

To Montreal :
Jay Bouwmeester
Anthony Stewart

Florida gets a veteran D-man for 2 more years after this one to fill Bouwmeester's place, get a good young winger who's a RFA this offseason and a good 2-way D-man prospect, while Montreal picks up a great D-man who's a UFA and a big bottom 6 winger that can play dirty.

Not enough? Too much?

Since when are Pac and Raymond a wash?? lol

Should we start a poll to ask who people think will be the better player in 2 years??
